Good afternoon,

I’m really sorry if this is a silly question, i’m a retired BMX rider and i wanted to get into riding again, i recently bought a new trek roscoe 7 as a starter, it’s never seen any trails as of yet but i have been using it to commute to work.

Yesterday i noticed a small scratch on the from stanchion (not sure where from? manufacturing maybe?) . I can’t barely feel it with my finger tip but i can feel it ever so slightly with my nail, doesn’t feel sharp or sticking out, it’s more of an indent scratch.

I was just wondering if this scratch is significant enough that it will cause me any issues with seals/bushings in the future or am i good to go?

again, sorry if it’s a daft question.

thank you ☺️

I won’t cause you any issues, but see what you can do with your warranty since you have it

  2. Use clear fingernail polish to fill the scratch. Then use 1500 grit sandpaper to sand down.

That looks cosmetic but if deeper air will escape through seal.

Mine are all scratched and chipped 20x worse than this. It’s purely a cosmetic problem and only affects resale value.

  4. Nothing to worry about. Won’t impact anything and only you’ll notice it.

  5. I wouldn’t call that a scratch personally. That’s nothing to even think about worrying about.
