Took the fam to the Berkshires and finally got to ride up Mount Greylock – the highest elevation in Massachusetts. The climb was steady and beautiful; perfect for taking in the views.

But the descent? My first real mountain drop. 3,000 feet, +30 mph, carving through switchbacks and hairpins like a guided free fall. Total madness and utterly alive.

Already thinking about the next trip. What was your first (or most unforgettable) big descent? I’d love to hear the story.

Hell yes. Good on you for earning your descent. I’ve hiked that one in the winter. It’s a nice hill.

  2. Ive never done a proper mountain descent but there are plenty of rolling hills in my area. The other day I hit a ~20% descent and approached 90kmh. That was a little hair-raising and made me realize I don’t actually need to descend a proper switchback mountain road if it means braking the whole way to not die.
