I’m using a borrowed bike, just got a flat and need to change the tube. The quick release keeps snapping shut against the fork and, when I do get it out far enough to turn, nothing seems to happen to the axle. No nut or hex on the other side.
Grateful for some quick advice!

It’s just a lever you use to unthread the axle. Just keep loosening it and it will come out.
Try putting the bike on the ground, like on its “flank”. Maybe it’s one of those.
This little spring – does that sit on the main axle thread?
