Drum Brakes?! My new rig – a 1985 Hercules ATB special.
A few days back I saw this dream of an MTB / ATB. And what can I say – I couldn't resist.
So here it is, in all it's glory – or what's left of it 😅
Today was the day – I collected it, got it home and started taking apart some stuff. An absolute dream with nice patina. Equipped with a 3×7 Fichtel&Sachs Rival groupset (look at that SRAM!) and Sachs 5020 drum brake hubs. As you can see, I got rid of all the unnecessary things like mudguards, rear rack and the lighting. Also I changed the bulky saddle and seatpost to something that fits me better. There's still a lot to do but it's a bit lighter now and perfectly rideable.
Next things on the list are a service/adjustment of the hubs, trueing of the wheels, some fresh cables all around and some nicer tires with new tubes. Might also keep my eyes open for a nice pink bottlecage and other handlebars, maybe even new shifter levers.
Maybe one ore another remember this guy on mtb-forum.de who had the same bike – that's pretty much the style where this is going.

Personally I love mud guards and lights. With drum brakes this would make for a great commuter
That last pic made me think: 🎶 Put your ass in the air like you just don’t care! 🎶
Guess which four letter cycling behemoth bought Sachs? Clue: not Trek.
