I rode my Surly Wednesday to the summit of White Mountain Peak (14,252 feet) on July 4th. My 4 inch wide tires rolled over large rocks with ease at 7psi. The tire pressure was the only suspension needed for this ride. I absolutely blasted my way down. It was so much fun.

I rode the bike all the way up from the entire White Mountain road. Up and down was a total of 68 miles with 12,600 feet of climbing. I started on July 3rd and rode the bike to the White Mountain trailhead, but my legs were tired, and I knew I'd fail if I tried to go to the summit. So, I turned around and rode back down WM road to the car. The next day I drove to the WM trailhead and rode the bike to the summit. Two hard days back to back. Not bad for an old man (64 years old).

I've done WM by bike four previous times. One other time I rode up Wyman Canyon which is extremely difficult with about two miles of riding up a rocky stream. This time was the entirety of White Mountain road. I guess, I'll have to try Silver Canyon next time, which adds an additional 2,000 feet of climbing.
