I am very fortunate to be vacationing in Sicily from Oregon. But boubly fortunate to have taken an amazing Ebike tour around Castiglione di Sicilia. The sites, cycling snd food were excelent.
I have been mountain biking for 37 years but this was my first time on an Ebike. Rather than review this bike, I'll review the experience riding one. First I'll say that I'm kind of a purist old school XC rider. At 56 I'm reluctant to go electric. Feels like cheating. But…I have to say, it was a blast. While the bike feels incredibly heavy, going uphill in full power assist was truly effortless. While I'm not ready for an Ebike, I can see how it would be very useful for really long tours. But I also think it could be a very slippery slope to getting lazy, and overreliance on electric assist.
But the tour was a blast. Litterly and figuratively.

Those are some sick pictures. Also an American, and I’ve been dreaming for a while about quitting my job and bike-touring Europe. Much of it seems beautiful and I think it’s neat that there’s random 1000-year-old castles all over the place, and the walkable towns are nice versus the car-centric suburbs I’m used to. Where are picture 4 and 5 from?
I want to go back to Sicily. What part were you? Where did you rent those? And how much was it?
Thank you
