I’ve had this one a few weeks but life events have kept me from taking it on anything but a few short rides. As a long time MTBer with my only drop bar bike being a 30lb steel Breezer, the Grail feels very fast and agile. I’ve owned a large in every bike I’ve had as an adult but I trusted the Canyon suggestion of a M and I definitely wouldn’t want it any bigger.
Impeccable tape job on the rims, and tubeless setup only took about 5 minutes. Everything else was good with the bike except one bizarre issue. The front derailleur was installed but not set up at all. The cable was loosely inserted and screwed down, but otherwise the set screws were in the default position and it wouldn’t shift on the first ride. I’ve been riding 1x setups for so many years that I had to do a bit of Youtubing to figure out the GRX setup. Not intuitive at all and different than any front mech I’ve ever had, but once I got it dialed in it’s fine. Maybe my bike was assembled on a Friday afternoon?
Looking forward to getting out on some rides now that the heat and humidity are subsiding and autumn weather is near!
