[Music] hello and welcome back to Touring with Rever If you’re new to the channel we do site reviews and this is our latest one having a look at Sherwood Pines and it’s part of Forestry England’s campsites that they have throughout the UK They have a couple more in different areas of the UK but this one here is Sherwood Pines in Nottingham And as you can see here on our approach to the entrance to the site we’ve got the reception to the right hand side and then this layby to the left where you can park for arrivals whilst you go in and sign in Well they’ll give you a ticket for your vehicle which you can hang in the window which denotes your pitch and how many nights you’re staying We head on here through the barrier which you’ll be given a code to Again great site security stop people coming on and off and it also limits traffic flow which is great for visitors because it means you can cycle and walk about without the fear of being run over Um to the right hand side here we have the site wardens They stay seasonally so they’ve got their pitches there with their bigger awning set up whil duties and like I said they stay seasonally Working our way down the gravel track here You already feel like you’re in the woods don’t you in the forest There places to camp on the left hand side here but the main site is as we continue on and as you open up here into the large open area you can see the leisure vehicles coming into view as we go through these pine trees It’s a beautiful view and the surroundings are absolutely stunning Now there’s multiple pitches to choose from And as I rode round on my bike here um you’ll see just the vast array of different pitches that you can choose I did this review on my bike because it was so big I thought if I walk it’ll be a bit prolonged So it was quicker just to go around on my bike to give you a general view of the site Uh you’ve got your trees to the left hand side here And one thing to note we’ve realized now whilst going to sites similar to this staying in the trees is absolutely beautiful However in the evening when the sun goes down being so close to trees can block a lot of your sunlight and we are absolutely sun worshippers here on touring with Reva Myself and my family love the sun So we’re quite conscious now whenever we go to sites to ensure we don’t pitch up under trees Um and as you work your way up this little path here you you’ll see exactly what I mean Um it’ll become really apparent Um the pitches to the left hand side here and it’s not just here it’s every site that you may visit are absolutely shadowed and dwarfed by these large trees which is fantastic because you feel like you’re in part of the forest But with the sun going down you get no sunlight whatsoever And especially in the winter here with the sun being so low This was filmed in January and it is quite gray overhead You get no sun at all So one thing to note you know if you like sun uh pitch away from the trees There’s Rever there on the right hand side and our family members camper on the left there VW West failure They came and stayed with us whilst we were here So like I said this is just a whistle stop tour really of the site and the facilities This is the camper van disposal point here along with your fresh water taps And then to the left hand side here you can just about see the play park next to the toilet block We’ll revisit that in a moment just as we cycle down here and we have a quick look at the other camping facilities which are the glamping pods both as they like to call them One thing I like about these like we’ve said on similar sites that we’ve reviewed if it is you’ve got family members that don’t have a caravan a camper van or some leisure vehicle they can come and stay on the site with you and spend time with your children You know if if they’re grandparents and they want to spend time with your children like we have they can come and stay there and really feel part of the the the adventure and the fun uh without owning a leisure vehicle So it’s quite nice when campsites offer that because sometimes our grandparents want to come and that they don’t have the facilities to do so So yeah big tick there Um this is a pizza van that was on site on the Thursday evening You order your pizzas and then you go and pick them up once they’re done Walking down here to the uh the toilet and shower block A really wellappointed block actually Um again like with every site that I go to I’m not a huge fan of going into toilets with cameras for obvious reasons So you know you just have to use your imagination there But if the toilet block is anything to go by on the outside you know you can imagine what the inside’s like Really clean wellappointed Multiple sinks there for washing up Sinks here for your laundry as well as washing machines and a tumble dryer So again great for when you’re in the forest and the kids are getting mucky and you’re going cycling etc If you’re staying for a longer period it’s great to get cleaned up there Working our way around now we’ll have a look at the dog wash Again another little nice touch Not all sites have these do they But they are really welcome when they do to clean your four-legged friend off and make them feel loved and pampered whilst you’re away There’s a play area there to the left hand side locker area for valuables and the back end of the sinks Ladies toilets here to the right hand side And all in all a very nice and wellappointed toilet/ shower block Really you you couldn’t ask for much more Great accessibility with a ramp leading down to it for disabled users Disabled toilets here on the end And here are the drinking water posts fresh water along with your Elson and chemical waste disposal point next door in a self-contained shed Now I know a lot of sites have these but what I do is just show what you can expect to find at this particular site Well-maintained perfectly serviceable And as we move on here this is actually the uh visitor center cycle hire shop now accompanied by a a cafe and restaurant So if you want to have a cup of coffee you can And this is also next to go Ape and the play park So if you want to watch your children being energetic there whilst you have a coffee you can do Again just a really quick look at this just so you can see what you can expect if you visit Sherwood Pines And this is us going off for a quick cycle ride I chose to take the bikes because it’s absolutely ideal for that Giving Harriet a quick shove there because she’s just taken her stabilizers off But again it’s just a brilliant place for children to to sort of ride free essentially Harriet had only just had her stabilizers off and she really utilized the space to to gain confidence and control of her bike without the fear of running into lamposts or anything else that could be in the way if we were to practice at home So a really nice place to get out and ride and enjoy some fresh air Beautiful views and very scenic and if you pick the right time of year it’s not too busy either Although in summer it can get busy for obvious reasons But in January when we went it was relatively quiet And once you’ve been for a cycle ride you can come back to the site and service your bike with the bush bar with the um the pump there and the tool station Harriet here really chuffed with her ride and then you can wash your bike off at the cycle wash area Now Harriet decided that even when it was clean it wasn’t clean so she tended to go over the same part a few times here Um I tried telling her that it was clean but who am I to say She’s got her own exacting standards and she continued to clean it and she did a very good job Um but as you can see by the views here the sightes stunning when the sun’s out and this was January like I say Um it’s still clean She got it upside down now just to get every bit off the bottom I don’t know who she’s learned that from um too OCD at times but again the children can ride around on this site and we you know we were happy to stay at the caravan and cook safe in the knowledge that the children were safe from from busy traffic because there’s no through traffic on the site It’s only the campers that are on site that may be moving their vehicles which is very seldom So all in all very good pitch size is fantastic And if you’ve got a push bike or you enjoy walking it’s it’s the sort of perfect thing for that Becky there just cooking some food And that’s it for this review I hope it gives you a little insight into what to expect Never want to give too much away so that you can actually explore and enjoy the adventure yourself And uh if you’ve liked that video please like and subscribe and come back again for more reviews

  1. It is a great site, I used it several times including over Christmas 2021 and 2022 when it first opened and was part of the Camping and caravan club network. I’ve not returned since the club dropped the camping in the forest sites, but I’m sure I will at some point, especially as it is so close to home for me. I enjoyed watching your review. Subscribed.
