Looking to get into cycling, new to road bikes.
This will be a pretty decent first road bike for the money. That fame is very decent and I’d say with a little tlc it’ll ride really nicely. I’d give the groupset a good service and get it all running like clockwork, that’ll be a huge quality of life thing and make the bike feel so much more premium.
Otherwise, I’d put some cheap high-TPI tires on (I like conti ultrasport iiis) which will be night and day for ride quality, especially on an Ali frame (they can be pretty vibey with old stiff tires). Get the biggest tires you can fit on there (probably 25s, maybe 28s) and consider AliExpress TPU tubes, I love my ridenow ones. 100 percent tires are the biggest thing you can do for a bike like that.
Make sure it fits you nicely too. You’ll almost certainly want some narrower handlebars with less drop on a bike from that era, you can’t go wrong with deda RHM geometry bars, and they make some decent cheap ones (20ish quid). Then just look into some basic bike fitting and make sure it’s set up for maximum comfort, handling and aero if you care and speed.
Ride safe and enjoy:)
