Definitely good. Next step is small legs movements to inch your way there. Lay on your back with your bike and do increasingly bigger whips to feel it out

Controlled bar turns are the first step torwards air control. However, being right foot forward, youre turning the wrong way. Im left foot forward and twisting right like you are in the video is much easier than the other way. Edit: after watching it a couple more times, those are more high-speed low jumps than huge whip type jumps also. Learn them on something that pops you up a bit more first.

Helps you get comfortable moving the bike around mid air. Don’t overdo it and biff it, that shit hurts.
Hips are next.

Yea. It won’t initiate the whip but it’s part of the motion and the fundamental benchmark of being comfortable in the air
It’s practice concentrating on something other than just the jump and focusing on what you want to do with the air time.
The whip part comes with the hips.
Don’t rush it or you’ll set yourself back.. when you can get those bars right turned over no problem then start focusing on the rest of the body

I’ve only been to Whistler twice and first 10 seconds I was like “this is Crank It Up”. Epic trail.

This is a great start, bar turns on the way to whips. Keep doing it until it feels uncomfortable not to do it. It’s a good way to feel control in the air. I do the same as you, I turn the wrong way, which makes it harder to whip, but it can happen. Turn to the side of your rear foot if you can. This bar turns can also lead to a table.

Unrelated – you may want to try adjusting your brake lever position. It looks like your index fingers are stretched far out. From my experience, binging the levers closer helps with hand fatigue.
Good luck with the whips!

Crank it up?
Looks like it but I haven’t lived there in a few years. It’s probably changed a bit.
