Days 14 & 15 | The bridge of DOOM & Europe’s biggest forest – Cycling London to Spain

We’re Alex & Selena Matti. We’re cycling from London to San Sebastián in Memory of our son Otis Zev Matti.

And I’m Selena
And we’re cycling all the way from London to San Sebastian in northern Spain
This is to raise money in memory of our son Otus Debatic This is where we are now So far we have cycled 891 km and we have 509 to go We are working with some incredible children’s charities and so far we have raised £44,000 [Music] In this episode we go over the bridge of doom and we end up slap bang in the middle of Europe’s biggest forest So we thought to do 83
today but now we’re doing 77 So I work my magic
That’s pretty good
Okay so how are we day four Five
Day five Day five Yes
Which means we only got two days left
Yeah Today tomorrow
Okay And then we got rest day Oh mercy The morning started off nice enough We cycled under this beautiful looking bridge just on the edge of Rashfor But then the weather started turning The clouds came in and suddenly the winds picked up and it started getting really horrible Uh we’re about 37k in and it’s just been head down grinding out the miles this morning Not very nice Cloudy windy pretty grim [Music] This is absolutely horrible Day five hell week It’s coming [Music] Greatness Oh god So bad That was horrible That was crazy
So windy So many cars
I was like close to laughing It was so ridiculous Like I was like is this actually happening we are in a wind tunnel Like I I couldn’t I was filming myself going “This is too dangerous I can’t film this.” But I am like it was like um you know on Toy Story
Oh yeah
Where like [Music] All right Do you know what day it is today one week to go
One week to go So
You know it’s we’ve hit our 40k
Yeah What do you reckon week to go Should we up it to 50
i think you know we should We should
I always had 50k in my head Like I remember even when we suggested 20k I was like I want 50 Don’t say it out loud It won’t happen We just didn’t understand whether or not it was even possible So last week we’re going to give it a big push Let’s try and hit 50 Come on let’s do it [Music] So we are where are we i don’t know But over there is Royanne So we’ve just got the ferry across the water and we’ve got nearly 90 km to do today and then a little break by the lake
It should be delightful We’re camping sort of again
Got a little really excited about it
It will be lovely Uh and very well earned after 500 km of cycling
500 km in 6 days That’s mental right let’s go for it Just leaving the beach and we’re about to head into Europe’s largest forest [Music] This has been so hard but absolutely beautiful Stunning scenery Remember when Otis was he was probably 5 weeks old at this point and we took him to a forest not dissimilar to this and we I had him in this little holster and I was carrying him around
and we found that massive stick that was such an amazing little memory Yeah
Together in the forest There’s a family with little Maggie going nuts Okay so we’re going to do one word every 10k The first word is
