forget everything you knew about how to win the tour to france the altitude camps the careful race program the save your legs for july mindset because tadia pagachar just torched the rule book and then lit a victory cigar with the ashes while the other riders were out doing intervals and training at altitude camp at tenneref tad well he was being bike racer racing in the most chaotic and glorious way possible let’s just look at a spring wins the ua tour sure expected it’s the team’s home race then he jumps into the classics like a man possessed wins stride bianke solo from 50 km out after crashing like it’s a group ride third at milanos and remo sure maybe it’s not as he podiums wins flanders again a two-time winner like tom boon second at perry rubé excuse me tad hey we wanted victory second at amsdale gold wins fleshwins leage baston lege to cap off his classic spring that’s not a prep schedule that’s a full career for most riders and here’s what’s wild through it all he’s not just surviving he’s thriving because this isn’t reckless it’s intentional pagotchar is reprogramming the entire model how you build towards the tour and it’s based on racing into form not hiding and hoping let’s look how the other gc contenders did it yonas vingigo altitude camps minimal racing after the crash in perines he’s aiming to peak for july remco similar chooses moments rarely races deep into the spring but taday he’s going full throttle in march in april and still showing up fresh and dominant in june and july he’s not building form he is the form and don’t forget he’s not just racing for trophies he’s racing with joy he attacks from far out he doesn’t sit in and wait he doesn’t calculate safe watts he races it’s old school meets new school merk’s attitude plus modern watts panache plus power pogachar’s formula so here’s the question is this sustainable or is he burning matches he’ll need on the slopes of the cold de la let us know in the comments do you think he can pull it off do you think he can make it that deep into the tour of france with no problems because if this version of tad shows up at the tour after that spring and still drops vingo and remco like bad habits then maybe they’ve been training wrong all along he’s not just winning races he’s changing the game and the scary part well tatte he’s still only 26 and the future’s bright for the slovenian superstar tune in for the tour to france and find out what happens

  1. We have to go back 40 years to Hinault to see a rider like this, four decades, a generational talent no doubt. That said, I think we'll see an earlier career drop off from some of these young riders who came in winning big at a young age. From the outside, as a non expert, there seems to be a bit of a trend of young riders burning out earlier, and it looks unsustainable. That said, its amazing to watch. If he wins the tour, again, it will be one of the greatest seasons in the modern era, and will he go to the Vuelta, and the world's?

  2. Tadej is a racing machine with no "off season". His passion for riding is evident. He is just built differently than the rest. This is not just his job, it is what he is.

  3. Tadej can probably pull it off but he is an extreme outlier and not a rewriter of an optimal prep for the Tour. He just seemingly has unlimited cartouches and pushes watts in zone 2 that puts most others in the red, even on the cobbles of PR. I'm afraid he'll make Jonas look like an ordinary rider upcoming TdF. 👽👽

  4. can't really use Remco as an example. this will only be the 2nd time he's ridden the Tour and he entered both coming off injury. Remco has otherwise been a regular participant in the late spring classics and was this year too. that said, yeah Pog is different!

  5. A lot of speculation, but the litmus test is from stage 12 in the TdF.
If Jonas Vingegaard gets to 3-2 in head-to-head TdF against Pogacar, it will undermine the story UAE and Pogacar fans have been insisting on the last 1½ years. Vingegaard was not expected to be a factor in TdF 2024 with only 5 weeks on the bike. Had the TdF been 2 weeks earlier last year Vingegaard would not have finished top 10.
This year again we have two healthy riders, and excuses are gone.

  6. It is worth noting that Jonas and Tadej have nearly the same number of race days this season.
Your point largely still stands as Pogacar’s race days are in the big one day events, but it’s not like the others haven’t been racing.

  7. If Tadej wins, maybe other riders will start showimg up at more races. Thats a win for the sport.

If he loses, we will see the best riders in the world hide oit of sight for months only to peak at the tour and then vanish for a year.

I hope he wins by 10 minutes. I am not cheering for a close race. I am cheering for inmortality

  8. It has been done before by the Cannibal Eddy Merckx,, name it.. classics, stage and grand tours he’s always there competing & winning. Hats off to Pogacar! No doubt he’s an all time great!

  9. Considering he did the Giro last year and came into the Tour in unbelievable form you have to think there is something to his process. I do hope he wins again.
I respect Jonas but am not really a fan of Vissma and think that at least one of Jonas wins was more to do with Vissma being stronger than Tadej than Jonas being a better rider.
I think Tadej is a great ambassador for the sport, humble but playful…. a rider with a personality.

  10. Last year Pog was the first cyclist since Pantani to do the Giro-Tour double, and the first since Roche to do the Triple Crown. This year he was the first to be on the podium of six Monuments consecutively as well as the first World Champion since Hinault to win the Dauphine. And may well be the first reigning World Champion since Lemond in 1990 to win the Tour. He may not be breaking new records every time, but is certainly matching those which were earlier done only way back in the 20th Century..

  11. Remco and Jonas both suffered major injuries. Tadej is incredibly cool and by far the best cyclist in the world, but I don’t think this is a fair comparison

  12. Maybe Tadej IS the 2nd coming (of Eddie Merckx)! I hope that he is well protected by his UAE teammates and that there are no crashes or unforeseen events that prevent him from what I believe is his destiny for 2025 (and beyond?) to win the Tour once again.

  13. This take about – Pogacar re-writing how to prepare and head into TdF is wrong. You’re forgetting the individual physiological differences between riders. Tadej is probably a genetic freak to be able to pull this off. How many other riders are in that same situation? None? If “race all the way into TdF” was a thing then other teams are not naive to not know that. The amount of money these teams spend on R&D and performance optimization is insane. The bottom line is Tadej is a genetic anomaly of some sorts that he can do this.

  14. This is silly. Pogi was also at altitude camp and training only for an extended period before the Dauphine. None of the pros these days have a true off-season, that changed across the peloton already.

  15. Just watch the guy ride. He squeezes every watt for rock-steady forward motion. I don’t think I’ve seen many riders as “quiet” on the bike. He’s a venomous snake, always ready to strike. I’m hoping every rider in the tour stays safe.
