I bought some Hope Tech 4 E4 brakes for a downcountry build — yes I know probably overkill but I like steeps and really love my Tech 4 V4s on my other bike. The thing is the rear brake mount on my frame (23 Specialized Epic evo) has the rear mounts inside the seat stay (see second picture here) and the E4 caliper is about a millimeter too wide, meaning it hits the inside of the seatstays (Nooooo)! So I can't center the rotor in the E4 caliper.

Do I:

  1. Just run it anyway — push the E4 caliper out as far as it'll go and run it with the inner pins pushed out (initial testing suggests this may actually work, though unclear to me if this is *wise*)
  2. Run a different Hope caliper (e.g., Hope XCR Pro E4)
  3. Switch to TRP-DH-EVO or other brakes
