I was tightening the stem and was going to about 5nm, didnt gear the torque wrench click but I heard the bar make noise. The seller who sold me this bar is telling me it’s safe and its just the paint but I am unsure. Pictures 1 and 2 are before sanding to get a better look.

Use paste and a torque wrench on carbon bars.
