  1. Typically, if your chain and cassette need replacing, your chainrings are also worn and need replacing. Assuming the front derailleur is adjusted properly, the sound is the new chain riding too deeply into the worn chainring teeth. Replacing the chainrings will quiet this down.

    Start at the easy parts.

    1. Rear skewer/thru axle. Is it set and torqued correctly? Thru axle lightly lubed?

    2. Freehub cleaned and lubed?

    3. Cassette sat and torqued correctly? The smallest cog sat on the cassette correctly?

    4. Chain; even if it’s new, check the wear on it with a checker. Is it dry and need lube?

    5. Check and verify the chainrings aren’t overly worn. Overly worn rings can wear the chain quickly. Wearing the chain quickly can wear your cassette quickly.

Check the chainline and front derailleur alignment. Your front derailleur has three positions. is it rubbing when at either extreme?
