Donald and Rodilla bike down 200 miles of German Rivers – the Lahn, Rhine, and Mosel Rivers.

Like Disneyland on bikes, IF Disneyland was 200 miles long!

Day #1 is on the Lahn River, beginning at Wetzler, Germany, and biking 27 miles downriver toward the Rhine.

foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] thank you thank you welcome [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] the adventure begins we are going 400 miles and it’s the first day first days are always very nervous here comes the first Regional local train but this is not our drain that’s exciting huh I don’t think that was our train I hope not anyway here we are we’re packed first days are so nervous because you forget how to pack the bikes we haven’t seen these bikes for five months my wife has her Kinder fair ride by pets the children’s bicycle because she’s only four foot in and it’s all packed it took us two hours to remember how to pack the bikes then we got the bungee cords we hope we did it right and here’s my bike I got a new battery for it but it’s a good one it’s about a three thousand dollar bike it’s very nice so we’re ready to go to vetsler that way and our train comes in about 15 minutes 15-20 minutes we’ll show you as we get on the train how we we have to strap the bikes into the train and get them secure but it’s not a long trip it’s only 29 minutes we go to vetsler and that is where the lawn river is and the lawn River bike path it goes 100 miles all the way to the Rhine River so we’ll see you on the train our train came very quick it was about three minutes we thought it was going to be like 25 minutes but a train came and said it’s going to Bachelor so it just hopped on we hope it’s right but here’s where we’re storing the bikes on the train here we hope this is okay and we don’t want to go into this seating area so it’s only about a 20 or 25 minute trip and there’s almost no one on the train today we’re flying along at a pretty good Clips where’s my wife here what are you doing oh that’s the the WC that’s the water closet the bathroom it’s kind of small where’s the toilet they have one well there it is how about that it’s great it’s pretty amazing huh okay we need your tickets we just made a big mistake our first time that train there is the one we just got off of and uh the conductor was not happy with us because that is not the regional local train that’s the ice train ice which the is the Intercity Express in Germany the eye strain we shouldn’t have ridden the eye strain because on the eye strain they go 150 miles an hour so that’s a more expensive train for one thing so you have to buy a higher price ticket we were only going 20 20 minutes down the tracks over as a short trip but the conductor was not happy with us we had the wrong ticket for the wrong train and also on the ice the high-speed trains you have to have a bike ticket too even even for 20 minute ride and we didn’t buy the bike chick the bike tickets cost like seven or eight dollars I think per bike so big mistake already but but the good news is that the uh the lady conductor she was actually a little bit nice I said it’s our first time now we’ve got to get to the city streets with these bicycles and you know they’re they’re packed and they’re heavy the kingdare fair at the small box yeah look at that it’s tiny this we have arrived in vetsler which is a medium sized city there’s a little traffic and Noise we kind of weren’t expecting this because all the towns on the lawn River are very tiny and quaint and beautiful like you’ve gone back in time but wetzler’s a little bit of a real City this is actually a shopping mall here it’s pretty big there’s a big hotel and guess what we’ve said it many times but Donald unreal Delia we travel very very cheaply and our first German meal on the streets is a American look at me where’s my burger I got the burger where’s the fries we’re excited we’ve checked into our hotel and we’re walking down to the central historic district here in vetsler but we’re seeing the lawn River for the first time here we are crossing The Lawn River and there’s some waterfalls there that’s the lawn and we’ll be on the lawn for about 60 or 70 miles until it hits the Rhine River where’s my wife oh there you are look I think that’s the uh Cathedral and here’s the beautiful line but we’re in the central area of vetzler which is a pretty big city actually but the beautiful line we’re so excited about biking The Lawn River again it’s been a long time since we biked the line it’s about like four to five minutes yeah but it’s like four and a half months and we’re back already so you know we must like the lawn River to come back so quickly here’s a sample of the lawn River biking trail there’s a guy in a bike right there but look how beautiful it is then it’s going to get more beautiful once we get out of the the big city here let’s see the little little biking trail Cafe on the side the beautiful trees here’s the lawn River over here and there’s a little side River here I don’t know if this might be a cut out or something remember entering the the Central City right here and we’re seeing some of the historic buildings for the first time foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] it’s the first day of our actual biking trip look at this half timbered house here on the left that is a real Jewel probably from the 1700s lovely oh yeah there’s the sign there it says uh I was right the year 1700. [Music] but it’s just in a neighborhood it’s just a commercial District you get up in the morning and your first mile is like this and you look for the bakery the bakari I guess that’s how you say it and Cafe we found her a little sidewalk table here the bikes are packed what do we have we got a chocolate sauce thank you [Music] thank you foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you thank you
