I usually clamp it up tight in a vice and turn the wheel to remove it.

1. Take the wheel out and remove the parts that came off, where the proper tool goes is still there. It’s part of the threaded piece.
2. If this I’d a really cheap one that does not use a tool to remove, these do exist in single speed, use a pipe wrench. Pipe Wrenches have teeth that dig in when trying to remove something like this and will unthread it.
