On this ride, I cycled from Exeter to the beginning of the most beautiful gravel road/trail. I cross Fingle Bridge and followed the south bank of the Teign gravel road through Fingle Woods to Clifford Bridge. I crossed over Clifford Bridge and cycled north of the river on a short section of country road before I joined the beautiful gravel trail that runs through Dunsford woods and nature reserve to steps bridge.
My observations are the subject of this ride. So come along and enjoy another great cycling adventure.

[Music] [Applause] morning Morning [Music] [Applause] Heat Heat Heat up here [Music] Hi guys welcome back and thanks again for joining me in my ride today Well I’ve got the gravel wheels on today So I’m doing a bit of off-roading I’m off to a place called Fingle Bridge Um the route I’m doing today is about 35 miles long with about 3 and 1 half,000 ft of climbing So as usual guys let’s go and see if we see anything interesting on today’s ride This is the uh village of Whit Stone Whitest Stones claim to fame is this is the place where the lead singer of Coldplay Chris Martin grew up Still proud of our flag despite this government trying to uh destroy it or destroy this country Yeah what a beautiful day today Um I’m going to be taking some roads today that I’ve never taken before I don’t think I have anyway but they’re not part of my regular roots if you know what I mean Yeah I’m looking forward to uh going down Fingo I haven’t been down there for a long long time So it’ be nice to go back and have a little ride down there That’s the property in there that Chris Martin grew up in Yeah it’s a nice property I have uh I have been in there once before You can uh you can check that out in the uh in my vlog history Yeah I’m still climbing this hill Done what 3 and 1/2 miles so far climbing this hill It’s a big one slow down did they when they pass you Look at that view out there guys Lovely isn’t it Yeah we’re going up into some altitude now just give me a right filthy look She did nice little pink cottage here guys Nice isn’t it Still climbing Welcome to Devon Yeah I haven’t been down Fingle for ages So uh I am really looking forward to going back down there and uh just having the peace and quiet riding through the uh riding through the woods down there alongside the river team Yeah I’m nearly at the top of the hill There’s a huge descent There are perks to this climbing Yeah for those of you who don’t know what tires I’m running these are the Specialized Pathfinder Pros and these are in 38s Yeah they’re a great combination for um road riding and uh hopping onto the gravel trails Got the best of both worlds And now down the other side Oh that’s hair raising that last little bit It really is It’s like living falling off the edge of a cliff It goes so fast and it’s bumpy as well So I’m in Tory St Mary now Looks like an old school doesn’t it Yeah the route I’m on at the moment is the National Cycle Network Um 279 That beautiful cottage here guys Rose Cottage it’s called Absolutely beautiful Let’s go around the roundabout Yeah I’m taking this next uh going through I’m going the same way Look at that for a cottage guys It’s gorgeous isn’t it Tried to think what the uh maintenance on those things are Another lovely cottage here guys We’re like on a cottage watch today aren’t we And as usual guys I’m still climbing Well I’m on another hill Not too far We got half a mile for this one That’s a another lovely cottage here guys Isn’t it Really is in a beautiful location Wow I’d love that way that car through No point in him sitting behind me in this lane and by when you can Well I do anyway I don’t know what you guys do Let me know in the comments if you pull over to let um vehicles pass you in narrow country lanes like this Look at that for an entrance guys Wow Isn’t that beautiful If the uh if the gates are looking like that imagine what the house must look like Oh mansion There’s got to be a mansion back there isn’t it Right guys I’m going to be uh switching over to the um POV now guys So I’ll be going from this lane all the way to Fingo So uh guys I’ll meet you in Fingo All right guys I’m uh coming down into Fingo Beautiful place down here It really is Let’s have a little look around shall we Yeah it’s beautiful down here guys Having a nice pub lunch down there Bike is absolutely flying along It really is You can go that way on the trails guys but I’m going to be going this way and making my way to um Steps Bridge Now just absolutely gorgeous down here isn’t it It really is Yeah Always puts a big smile on my face when I’m down here It really does Yeah So I’ve just ridden this way actually uh for the POV I’ve done it from Clifford Bridge to uh Fingle Bridge So if you want to see that one unedited just me uh yapping along as I go in Um yeah go and have a have the butchers at the POV In fact we’ve already seen it I’m not sure which is going out first this one or the POV Probably the POV And yes I come past this tree that had fallen [Music] Quite a mess isn’t it [Music] guys It’s a river teen down [Music] there in the bike [Music] Good It’s just absolutely beautiful here guys [Music] [Music] sort of blending in Blending into the forest here with my new top on aren’t they Yeah I’ve got myself a new cycling top [Music] So quite fitting um being down in the woods today all in green Even got my green socks on [Music] This used to be the charcoal platform circular AD 500 1948 over 200 platforms existed in Fingo alone Charcoal was used for uh smelting metal and in the 20th century for explosives What a beautiful trail to ride And you got loads of little trails like that as well you can go off shooting off on Yeah there are loads of little side trails you can [Applause] take They’re standing there aren’t they [Applause] Right that’s the exit to that trail Coming down onto uh Clifford Bridge now So now I’ll be going from Clifford Bridge to uh Steps Bridge And just here guys we pick up the other trail Dunsford Woods Obviously you got multiple choices I’m going to take this one today I think I took that one last [Applause] time Both really nice trails to go on So if you ever come down here take your [Applause] pick or come and ride them both That will take you out more towards the river side [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat Heat [Music] [Music] Yeah it’s an absolutely lovely area to explore uh from Steps Bridge You got a car park at the end of Steps Bridge here You can park your car up in the car park It’s free Um and then you can uh come and cycle these trails or you can park at Fingle Bridge and do it in reverse As you probably gathered I’m not I’m not the cafe type person I don’t normally stop on my rides in cafe stops like a lot of people do That really isn’t my thing Even uh on my long epic journeys I don’t tend to stop I just leave home ride where I got to go turn around come back home again Just magical isn’t it guys It really is Yeah So uh coming out Steps Bridge [Applause] now I didn’t see a single so on that uh trail Not Not a single So yeah If you’re ever going to bring your car down you can either park here which I wouldn’t recommend but just up the hill a little bit there’s a free parking Yeah So if you go up there up around the corner there’s a free uh car park up there guys So uh if you bring your bikes down jump on them and um come and start the trail here at Steps Bridge and you can ride it all the way to Fingo But for me I’m back out on the road again Yeah When I used to meet my buddies we used to park our cars up in the car park meet in the car park up there bring our MTBs and we’ll just go hit in the woods up there Some fantastic downhills As you probably gathered I do enjoy my uh downhill racing and there’s plenty of that in the uh in the woods up there So so far I’ve done 23.4 miles and 1,864 ft of climbing and I’ve got 72% of the battery left I don’t know if you guys can see that Yeah I absolutely love this bike Um because I got two really massive hills to climb I got plenty of juice in the batteries so I should be knocking it up into turbo and flying up over those hills on my homewood journey I got a big old hill to climb now Uh just under a mile long 0.7 now I’m still climbing and I got 197 ft to go So I’ve just whacked it up into turbo guys 72% well 71% of the battery now I should say Ready for this big hill Then I got one more big hill after this one 16% climb on this Oh backing it up into turbo really does make light work of this hill Nearly there Oh it’s a lovely descent that one Oh your all descents are lovely aren’t they Really let’s be fair Starting up this hill It’s just under a mile long Look 0.9 Um and there’s 269 ft to go So as well get on with it So I’m nearly at the top of the hill guys 400 ft to go Uh 13 10 ft of climbing and I’ve been on this hill for uh just under 5 minutes Look there you go down under the subway See if I can get past this chap Hey bro I noticed a lot of people not wearing helmets now There you go Another one Why wouldn’t you wear a helmet when you’re out cycling It’s just I don’t know It’s crazy You know you go from uh the lovely gravel trails that fingering steps bridge all on your own Beautiful And then um back into the bustling city with all this uh horrible traffic Oh look at that for timing Go on in fellas Right that’s it from me for today’s ride guys I hope you’ve enjoyed that one Well if you did could you please give us a like and come and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already Anyway until next time guys Keep smiling and riding See you soon Bye for now Bye-bye Bye Heat Heat [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
