I have a question about chain stripper for prepping a chain for waxing. Is it normal it looks a little bit rusty after stripping and cleaning with water? It’s not like it’s fully rusty but there are stains. I used silca stripper!
It’s a brand new chain btw.

Did you leave it in the Cleaning solution to soak? Dont have any experience with this producr but it might be because of that? But the stripper shouldnt be corrosive imo, bc its trying to clean the chain of Grease, but maybe slight corrosivity can help? I think the best way to clean a bike chain for waxing is just using Gasoline, it will get the chain the cleanest. If the chain rattles when dry its completely clean, if not it still hase grease in there. Gasoline might clean of some rust. But dont quote me on that. Im also not 100% thats rust id expect it to be more red.
If you rinsed it with water and left it to dry, it will corrode. That’s is why they come from the factory with an oil on them; to avoid corrosion. After you rinse, you need to displace the water in something that evaporates quickly. I usually dunk mine in isopropyl alcohol after rinsing with water to avoid this.
