I bought this bike (Hiland) off Facebook marketplace so I do not know any of the specs. Needs a new bottom bracket and I'm wondering what spec of bottom bracket I should get. These pedals look a bit far off the frame, no?
It’s hard to know what exact BB you need without taking off the cranks and measuring the length of the axle. The width of the BB shell (frame) matters too, it’s usually 68mm.
No. If the gap between the crank arm and chainstay is about 20mm, that’s normal.

This looks totally normal for a square taper BB. I would suggest taking the crank arms off and measuring the length of the spindle to get the correct replacement.

What matters is the chainline. If it looks okay you have the right BB already.
