I picked this up for an old coworker who has become a great friend over the years. He’s retired now but we still talk every couple weeks. He said he hasn’t rode a bike in a very long time but would like to get back into it. He’s 75 years old and in great shape so why not. He also likes things vintage. What do you guys think? Hope he likes it! Not that I think he would care much but does anyone know anything about this bike other than the name? I’d like to give him a little background when I hand it over. I picked it up from a guy that was moving for $40 bucks just because it looked pretty cool and I thought he would like it.

  1. It’s a mid-level bike from the late seventies. Not really anything special or super sought-after nowadays, but it looks to be in really good shape. The frame is “just” high tensile steel, rather than a more prestigious alloy, but looks to be pretty well made and even has forged dropouts, which is typically a sign of a decent frame.

The parts are pretty decent, nice Suntour vgtLuxe(?) derailleur and power shifters. These parts were affordable and worked great, and personally I really like the aesthetic of them. The wheels are aluminum which is good, probably 27 inch though which is a bit hard to find tires for.

Overall it’s a decent bicycle, with good parts that will last forever if cared for.
