I came across this gorgeous custom build chained in Hamburg that's been sitting there for what looks like weeks/months now. It's clearly a labor of love – someone put serious time and care into this build, which makes it heartbreaking to see it slowly deteriorating.

What makes this concerning:

  • This is obviously someone's pride and joy, not a beater they'd abandon
  • Weather is starting to take its toll on components
  • The build quality suggests the owner knows their stuff about bikes

I'm genuinely worried about the owner's wellbeing. Did they lock it up after a night out and forget? Are they okay? Did something happen to them?

If this is your bike or you know whose it is:

  • DM me with proof of ownership (photos, receipts, specific details)
  • I'm not trying to claim it – just want to make sure both bike and owner are safe

Has anyone seen this bike around or know the owner? I hate seeing such beautiful builds go to waste, but more importantly, I hope whoever built this is doing alright.

I’m gonna go and guess they died or something else horrible. Nobody would just leave that.

Free him before somebody with worse intentions does.

Be honest, you want that thing.

I saw an abandoned Kona on my way to work for a few weeks and couldn’t decide, what to do. Sadly it was gone before I could secure it and deliver it to the lost&found with the goal to receive it clean and few months later.

My guess is the bike was stolen and then abandoned. It definitely looks like a well cared for and desired bike. I hope you manage to track down the owner.

  4. On the off chance that the owner registered it on Bike Index, you can register a found/suspected stolen bike: [https://bikeindex.org/info/how-to-get-your-stolen-bike-back](https://bikeindex.org/info/how-to-get-your-stolen-bike-back)

If you can get to the serial number (likely on bottom of bottom bracket) then if you register it as found, and they registered it as stolen, it will alert.

Grab it, leave a note that’s weatherproof in case the owner returns. If he/she contacts you and proves that’s his/hers you have avoided it getting stolen. If nobody ever reaches out, you just got yourself a really nice bike.
