My tour from Erfurt Central Station to Weimar Central Station naturally took me a bit longer. About 1 hour and 15 minutes. However, with the help of a trick, namely time-lapse, I was able to reduce the time to an interesting amount for you. I covered the distance of just over 24 km at an average speed of about 20 km/h. I climbed 210 m and descended 190 m. During the tour, I passed a few places that I ‘ll tell you about at the appropriate point. As an e-bike rider, I also noticed that you hardly ever have to turn on the motor. I only used my motor for a maximum of 10 minutes on some climbs. As you can see, I started my journey in Erfurt at the main station. Erfurt has been the capital of the Free State of Thuringia since 1991 and, with approximately 220,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in Thuringia. Traces of the first settlements in what is now the city area date back to prehistoric times. Human traces from the Paleolithic period around 100,000 BC were found in the north of Erfurt. At this point we have almost crossed the district of Linderbach, which has over 900 inhabitants. Linderbach was first mentioned in a document in 1104 and has a church whose altar dates back to around 1500. We have now arrived in Azmannsdorf, another district with over 350 inhabitants and located east of Erfurt. It is, incidentally, one of the oldest settlement areas in the region. Finds from the Bronze Age have been made here. What do you think of the video idea? Write your opinion in the comments. And now we have reached the district of Vieselbach, which has over 2,140 inhabitants. The place name goes back to a formerly very winding stream. Vieselbach was first mentioned in a document in 1193. With the obligation to pay rent of seven pigs to the Marienenstift Erfurt. Historians, however, assume that Vieselbach was probably founded around 900. [Music] If you support me and don’t want to miss any videos in the future, I would be very grateful if you subscribe to my channel. A huge thank you in advance for that. [Music] And just like that, we’ve passed the Niederzimmern sign. It’s a district of the rural municipality of Grammetal and has over 1,000 inhabitants. The earliest traces of settlement date back to the Stone Age. The first documented mention dates back to 876. Incidentally, I briefly started my engine at this point. [Music] We reach Ottstedt am Berge. Over 240 inhabitants live here. The area was already settled in the Neolithic period. Incidentally, we are now at the spot where I started the engine for the second time. The climb was a bit too steep for me. [Music] For those who are curious, I can also say that these shots were taken in timeshift mode on the Insta360 Ace Pro 2. [Music] [Music] We are slowly approaching the town of Daasdorf am Berge, which also belongs to the rural municipality of Grammetal. It has over 270 inhabitants and was first mentioned in a document in 1283. [Music] We pass through Gaberndorf, a district of the town of Weimar. Over 1,500 people live here . Archaeologists found flints, blades and arrowheads here that probably come from Stone Age hunters. Dating back to 10,000 BC. Now we’ve almost arrived in Weimar and are really faster than the train. Weimar is an independent city in Thuringia and is world-famous for its cultural and political heritage. The old town lies on a bend in the Ilm river southeast of the Ettersberg, the highest elevation in the Thuringian Basin at 477 m. The city has approximately 66,000 inhabitants and is the fifth-largest city in Thuringia. Fascinatingly, the skeleton of the Ehringsdorf prehistoric man was discovered in 1925 in Ehringsdorf, a district in the southeast. Its age is estimated at approximately 200,000 to 250,000 years. So, I’ve reached the end of the video, and you’ve reached the end. Did you like it? Then give it a thumbs up.
