[Music] morning welcome back to bike ventures i’m out with lisa today and we’re heading up from chesterfield to leeds on the transpanine trail the south to north or north to south whichever way you take it doing a quick overnighter so it’s about 70 mi each way for us so riding up there tonight or today quick stop over in the travel lodge back tomorrow so we’re traveling light today only one pa bag each so we’ll be taking in a lot of old railways today i think a canal as well uh we’re currently on my favorite stretch of old trail old railway which is transine trail from renshore through to rother valley country park there’s the old chesterfield canal look where we’ve ridden down from chesterfield obviously dry there so yeah hope you enjoy we’re going up through barnsley today elsica barnsley and then up past wakefield and leeds so see you on the trail [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] there’s meadow hell where me and le used to work a long time ago in a young horrible place hate it very rarely come shopping here so we’re 23 miles from home well we’ve done 23 miles what about 9 miles from home back on an old railway line now it’s been a while since came off at roller valley nearly 25 miles in 10 mile from home crazy [Music] so we’ll be on this line for a bit down towards ecklesfield and we’ll come off go up through thor bezley and wentworth pick up the old elsa line down towards w out to the tree route which they’ve kindly painted yellow so you can see where the humps are i don’t know if you can see on camera this building on the right with the three chimneys that’s the old station building what was uh station was here i don’t think there’s any platform left that’s all gone come on in heat heat [Music] thank you guys cheers [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so that there must be the remains of that canal we’ve just come past i’m not sure which one cuz there was the royston which was the first one and then the barnsley so probably the barnesley heading up towards wakefield now so i assume probably the barnes one yeah cool totally bone dry that one long time empty we’re just going over this foot bridge on the over the river don’t know what river it is and um i don’t think i mentioned it before i do not like height so whilst i don’t think this is too high and i feel okay if i look straight down there’s gaps through the the wooden slats and that’s the bit i don’t like so i just have to make sure i keep looking forwards [Applause] so we’re just going into stanley ferry i think this is the headliner navigation could be wrong i think it is but i mean think a lot of these are permanently mowed it’s cool see thank you very much thank you [Music] look at this we’re directly under the m1 amazing how noisy it is not not the traffic noise like the rumble of like lorries and stuff going over i don’t know if the microphone will pick it up i never realized there’s a gap between the two look yeah it’s vast that all right just on the final run in you can see all the buildings lead city center and we’re just coming into the thing is where the the river to our right terminates i could be wrong [Music] cool minute so that’s uh transparen trail central south to north done just in the hotel now 67 7.3 miles bit of a mixed bag really um the chesterfield towards rother valley country park obviously because i’ve done that quite a bit but the uh section through sheffield and then through sort of barnley to royston was just a bit i know it weren’t that it was bad it was just a bit uninspiring um me at least we’re both feeling a bit this is a bit naff but then after royston you got the old royston canal which is now disused and then the barnsley canal which had some fantastic stuff on there and then some old railway so actually the route does get better after royston and then we quite enjoyed it rolling into leads so yeah it’s pretty nice so uh plan is we’ll ride back tomorrow and um i’ll film that and show you some different stuff i didn’t show you today so that’ll be the north to south of the central all right so i hope you enjoyed that thanks for watching see you on the next video [Music]

That's a nice ride, I've only been as far down as the Conisborough viaduct from Leeds.
It was great watching that, I live close to that blue foot bridge, and ride that same route to Leeds and back regularly, it was like watching my own ride 👍
