Hi. I have an old Huffy with a non-standard chain, where one link is attached to the next in a fish scale-like pattern. I need to shorten the chain, but I'm not sure how to then link it back together.
Are there any chain links for this type? I doubt that a standard one (as on my road bike) will work. Reuse the pins, hoping that they'll not break?
Thanks for any feedback.

Just slide the wheel back to tension the chain
This is called a half link chain. You use a chain breaker to push a pin mostly out, remove a link, and then use the breaker to push the pin back in.
However, just loosen your rear axle to slide the wheel back to tighten the chain. No need to remove a link.
This is a half link chain, in theory making it easier to adjust length in smaller increments by removing a link. Take a link out and adjust dropout.
Just as an aside – your chain is on upside down.
