Trying to add this shotgun seat for my kid. It’s the first gen, fit well on my old bike but the top tube is skinny and it won’t grab it up top, so the whole thing swings backward and doesn’t seem to fit right. I watched the videos on this but still don’t understand how it’s supposed to stay upright.

New seat with the bar from headset to seatpost on a sick ride like that my friend. You spent a lot on that bike, spend the little(in comparison) extra to protect it and get the right seat for the job.
You should be able to adjust the width. From what I remember it’s under the seat. There’s a bolt you need to adjust.
