I apologise for mistakes I made while writing this, English is not my first language I was inspired by other posts to make this one.
For context I'm mexican, I live in México. Wages are low (most people make between $350 to $1000 a month) most brands and equipment are really expensive or simply imposible to ship. I fell in love with bikepacking at 24 and only was able to afford my first trip at 28. I slowly build 2 bikes over the course of 5 years. Making DIY "cradles" out of cut, bent and glued PVC pipes. Sewing my own "drybags" and and buying equipment from AliExpress.

1 my second bike.
2 my first bike, fork and saddle PVC craddle visible
3 my girlfriend first bike with diy frame and snack bags
4 PVC handlebar craddle closeup
5 Cheap Rack
6 my girlfriend's second bike, fork, sadde and handlebar craddle all DIY fork and handlebar bags sewn by me.

Hope you like it.

  1. this is fucking awesome man and truly represents what the sub is about!!

i always wondered how hard was it to find 29″ / 700c or 27.5 parts out there, i have some family i would like to visit and always assumed i should take mt 26″ bike so parts are easier to find in case of anything. anyways best wishes!!

Your seconds bikes are both so legit. I still don’t have a drop bar gravel bike. Keep grinding!

  3. que chingón! síguele hermano.

There’s a few good Chinese brands for waterproof stuff. I think I saw a recent one called Qunature but it could be just here in China where I’m based but also great to see the DIY spirit.

  4. Sick bikes. Love the creativity, and making what you need. A lot of people here in Canada will improvise things too. Bike bag companies charge too much for some basic things sometimes. I would love to see how you attach the PVC pipe to the bars. Just straps?

It doesn’t matter what your bike looks like. It doesn’t matter how much it costs. We are all out there with the same goal and see the same amazing places.

(Google translate: Bicicletas geniales. ¿Solo correas?

No importa cómo sea tu bicicleta. No importa cuánto cueste. Todos estamos ahí con el mismo objetivo y conociendo los mismos lugares increíbles.)
