Hello bike tourers! I was wondering if anyone has ever toured Japan on a tandem. I expect few people have, given it was actually illegal to ride a tandem in certain prefectures until the middle of this year, but wanted to ask the question.
Husband and I are thinking of touring Hokkaido for six weeks next year on our Co-motion Java tandem, starting the beginning of August. But we are concerned that it might be too mountainous for a fully-loaded tandem, so we are considering just taking our single bikes.
Would love any suggestions/advice!
