I got the price down from $250 to $200, and wanted to know if this bike is still worth my money since it will be my first bike. The seller mentioned that it needs a tune up and I have a bike service area near me that does it for free which I don't mind, however he also mentioned that the brake pads need to be replaced due to use. let me know what you guys think!

  1. This is a great first bike. Pros: Steel frame, single-speed, great tires. When you do get it serviced, it’ll run for ages without the need for more tune-ups. This gear looks nice for city riding.

Cons: you might find the riding position is a little aggressive—it’ll feel good when you are riding hard, but won’t feel as good when you are soft pedalling. Easy fix though, just get a shorter stem. The seat also might not suit your butt.

Single speeds are awesome. This is a steal for $200.

Absolute steal – easy to maintain and this isn’t entry level. Solid steel nice bars

  3. It is a single speed conversion, somewhat hacky. It could be worth around C$200. The tires are nice but not much else. Might be okay for a beater around town bike along flat routes.

There are some concerns, a sheet metal screw was driven into the water bottle boss. The rear brake cable is very long and has no cap to prevent it from fraying.

It’s not a conventional bike. It will work well if you live in a flat area and you’re going to be riding on 95% paved surfaces. It has really nice tires and likely a quality frame

The tires alone are $120 USD but it’s a converted geared bike with vertical dropouts so you’ll have to run that ugly tensioner. Probably why it’s photographed non drive side. The bars look cool but are really impractical and silly. I’d give it a miss.

Those alibaba bullhorns would concern me a bit. That’s a lotta leverage to stress the daylights out of the clamp zone, and that’s assuming it’s never been dropped on them…which it definitely has.

Okay so I just looked again – is that a new XO crankset? What in the world is that doing on there? That crankset alone is worth more than $200. It’s also a mountain bike crankset. It was also released like two years ago but everything else is older/at least vaguely appropriate. The more I look the more intrigued (confused) I am…
