The full route started near Méthamis, going up the northern rim of Les Gorge de la Nesque, then turned up towards the Col de la Ligne (755m), turning off just below the top to head through Le Forêt de Saint Lambert / Forest of Saint Lambert (0:00), descending towards La Falaise de la Madeleine / Cliff of Madelaine (0:30) and the village of Lioux (0:42), heading across to visit the village of Joucas (1:09), then going south to visit the town of Bonnieux (1:54), returning by way of Joucas to the village of Murs, continuing up the the Col de Murs (3:35), then descending all the way down to Venasque, on to Malemort du Comtat and then back to the starting point of Méthamis. Total distance covered was about 90 km. The trip was done on Friday 20th June, 2025. Maximum temperature was 35°C.
Gradients are never excessive but the climb up to the Col de Murs was made a little harder by the afternoon heat. The final few kilometres up to Bonnieux are on a less interesting road with some fast-moving traffic so if a shorter tour is desired, the entire detour to Bonnieux from Joucas could be omitted. The quiet and charm of Joucas contrasts with the tourist crowds of Bonnieux. Bonnieux is probably better experienced off-season.
