In this episode, I am leaving Eastbourne and I first have to ride to Dartford, near London, for a book signing event. The next day, I have to be in Swansea for another event, but instead of taking the highway, I ride via Oxford on a very special mission…

Eastbourne, United Kingdom Good morning Internet! Well, morning morning It is 2:30 I should say good afternoon Internet It is 2:30 in the afternoon and welcome back to the channel Welcome to Eastbourne And it’s another gorgeous day today I am now on my way to London again You will see that my ride through the UK is going to be a little bit more random than normal Because I have these events so I’m doing book signing events And those yeah, had to be scheduled together with the bookstore So I didn’t have full freedom with that So that means I am kind of riding up and down a few times So this is my plan for today I’m now in Eastbourne. First I’m going to go to Dartford which is kind of on this side of London Um, I have a book signing there tonight and then tomorrow night I have a book signing in Swansea all the way here So I’m going to ride to Dartford, I’m just going to take the main road and then tomorrow morning I’m going to have to ride all the way around London I’m gonna pass through Oxford and then this area is called the Cotsworlds And then I’m going to continue into Wales to Swansea So yeah, this ride now to London, I’m just gonna go on the highway Because I have to be there in like
a few hours I don’t have time to explore so I’ll stay one night in Dartford Which is where I’m heading now and then continue to Wales the next morning… I made it to Oxford! It took quite a long time to ride that whole ring road around London But I did it and now I’m kind of approaching the center of Oxford That is so cool Look at that Looks like a church or not? St. John’s Quad. Courtyard of St. Johns College I feel like I’m riding straight back into the Middle Ages with all these old buildings I have business to do in Oxford because And that means I’m riding first to this beautiful library And I’m going to see if I can donate my book to the library So I’m just going to force it on them You know sometimes you have to take matters into your own hand That’s how it is right Wow, this is so pretty here Look at all of this Broad street Is this the library? Somewhere here Even further I think it’s that building there This is the library, wow It’s the Bodleian library Now the only problem is How am I gonna leave my bike and all my stuff? Kind of safe That’s a.. that’s the only thing You know Hi What are you looking for? Well um, basically a massive favor Because my idea was to try and donate a free book to the library And so I need to go inside but I have like all my stuff on my bike So I was like
– Keep an eye on it Yeah, or maybe could I park it there for like 10 minutes Not really in there
– No – No Not with the materials. What you can do is you can park it there I’m going to have my break for about half an hour so I’m going to be here Okay
– Long enough for you Yeah yeah, I just need like 10 minutes to like pop in Yeah yeah, just put it there so I can see it sort of thing Okay awesome. Thank you so much! Maybe I got it, I got it! I think maybe like this, no Yeah, just so I can see it like so I can see around the corner from there Oh, you want me to put it here? Yeah okay okay Just so I can see Get it in my eye sight Okay Hi
– Hi how are you? Policeman? Police? No no no no no. She’s uh.. she’s writing a book She wrote a book And she’s traveling around So um, she’s trying to get it into the library Bless you bless you Everything okay? [Dutch] A day not having laughed is a day not having lived [Dutch] Okay. Here’s my book Let’s see if I can get it into the library There we go Wow How do I get inside though? Philosophy History How long did it take you to write? I wrote it in Dutch first Right. Okay Do you have a pen? No Perfect, thank you Oh your pen So where are you off to now? I’m doing a book signing in Swansea tonight Oh nice So it’s still fair bit to go Fair bit
– Yeah Thank you. Bye-bye It worked! It worked So my book is now at this amazing library here in Oxford Oh let me check out this place Um, they didn’t have it yet, they will get a copy but obviously the book has only been out for what is it now, two weeks So they said normally it takes a while but now the book is here, it’s also signed So if you’re in the Oxford area and you want to read my book you can read it here in the library Look at this Wow And of course, besides a beautiful building this library is very special It has held centuries of secret and forbidden knowledge and Einstein was burying his nose into books here And also Tolkien, so the Lord of the Rings was also kind of created here So that makes it so special to know that my book is here now too I am so chuffed with myself, that my book is now in one of the greatest libraries Ah Okay, I’m going to ride a little bit more around Oxford because there are so many of these amazing buildings Older houses are so majestic right? All of these all look several hundred years old I don’t know exactly from what year they are I can totally see why this place would be a massive inspiration for writers like Tolkien or also Harry Potter A lot of the buildings here were the inspiration for Harry Potter as well So this is Carfax Tower and it’s from here that all the distances to Oxford are measured I’m kind of circling Oxford Castle I don’t really get a good view on it But this is where it all began, the castle dates back to the year 1071 And until 1996 it was actually a prison But it’s now it’s just kind of, see it’s hiding behind all of these new buildings now So Oxford started as a fortified town and then grew out to be a place of learning Although, ah, this is maybe more like the front So many actually say that students were already studying in Oxford before the university was here What is this building then? Also University I’m guessing Look at that, this is a hotel Randolph Hotel, wow Must be expensive I have left Oxford behind me And now I’m riding through Burford which is the gateway to the Cotswolds The first house I see is already cute Hillcrest East View See that’s what I really love about the UK is that houses have like a name So on the address if you want to send somebody a letter or something You would write like Denim Cottage The first time I realized that, that was the case Was when I started my web shop and I was sending parcels to the UK And people would fill in their address and I would be like “But what’s your house number?” You know because here I think they do have numbers or not? Yeah, here they do also have numbers but some of these cottages don’t even have a number It’s just the name. I find it so fascinating because in the
Netherlands that doesn’t happen And they’re all different but built right next to each other like Look at those chimneys glued together Thanks to everybody who explained it to me in the last episode The story about the chimneys in the UK, why they are so tall And why there are so many Look at that Bumble’s News and Post Office Like this is the Post Office I just want to give that Post Office a hug It’s so cute Like look at all this Oh, I love this style of houses A lot of them are for sale though, look For sale For sale It’s probably unaffordable Next village, this is Bourton-on-the-Water Cuteness level 1,000% Look at this. It’s so cute Bit thirsty though. See if I can
find something to drink Somewhere Oehh ice cream.. Oehh rocks… Oehh, lots of rose quartz, look Amethyst Lots of amethyst See, if I can drink something here and have a closer look at the cuteness of Bourton-on-the-Water Thank you very much It is so warm in the UK right now I mean I’m not complaining but I didn’t really see this weather coming I’m so lucky really So I got myself a little lemon sorbet That’s delicious Sometimes you need to treat yourself to an ice cream right? Got my treat I have reached the next town and.. That’s it. That’s it! I am moving to the British countryside I mean who.. who wouldn’t want to live in a village like this With places called Rhubarb Rhubarb I mean Church bells are ringing Here you have the Cotswolds Sweet Company Making real Cotswolds sweets Oh yes, I’m definitely moving here Maybe like this house Oh look, at this No! Wah Doesn’t this make you just want to run through this field Yeah, that’s it That’s it, I’m moving here Oh, or maybe this house It’s abandoned Totally available Look at this so cute! Or maybe this house This is a cute one Here’s the church. Oh well, right next to the graveyard Maybe that’s not a perfect spot Oh, or this one! Cotswold house it’s called Yeah, I don’t know what happened but somewhere along the way what was supposed to be a book tour has turned into a house hunt I’m just really curious how these houses look like from the inside Surely they have to be as cute inside as out Look at all that lavender It’s so pretty British flag on top So this tower was built in the
18th century Although, they call it a folly here And the tower is sitting at 312 meters Oh, the old school’s for sale Old school house Museum Horse and Hound Careful Nobody St Peter’s Church This place is called the Corner Cupboard Inn Oh, if I didn’t have to be in Swansea, I would stay there Just for the name alone Who comes up with that name. The Corner Cupboard That’s brilliant Am I crossing the bridge over to Wales? Yes Welcome to Wales! I am in Swansea Still in time for the event So that means I’m going to end this video now That was it for today I really hope you like this video as much as I absolutely loved riding through the Cotsworlds today If you did please give a big thumbs up Subscribe down below and then I’ll see you in the next video

  1. I was today years old when I learned England had palm trees. Itchy had that rock shop scoped out before she threw out her u kickstand. You can take the girl from the rocks, but you can't take the rocks out of the girl.

  2. Noraly, three years ago I moved to Oregon and learned my new landlord also watched Itchy Boots. He just gave me a copy of your book which I'm enjoying. Thanks

  3. If you get time to visit the Peak District in the uk stop off at blue John’s cavern, it’s only place that has the blue John stone 🙋‍♀️ safe travels in the uk , it’s so surreal seeing you travel our country in your videos ❤

  5. Noraly has been in every exotic location in the world and falls in love with the Cotswalds-lol! . She is right though, there are very few places prettier than the English countryside in the Summer. Thanks for this lovely video!

  6. 78 years old and I've never been to Oxford, I must go. 😉 I guessed Bodlien library.
You even managed to get drone footage, 😮 and nobody told you off 😂. Must be sub 250g. Rules are changing in 2 years to 100g 😢.
Enjoy your visit, if you get down to Devon I'll buy you a drink, and take you for a ride on my 1978 Honda CX500. ❤

  7. Big big thumbs up 👍 – absolutely loved revisiting one of my favourite places, the Cotswolds and history of Oxford without the flights from Australia! ❤

  8. I'm glad you're enjoying your trip, a good video for the Tourist Board, but as far as 'running through that field' goes, 😂, there's no 'right to roam' in England (there is in Scotland) . You'd likely have a miserable grumpy farmer telling you to 'get orf of my land' !

  9. Thanks for sharing your tour through Oxford and the English countryside to Swansea. Beautiful country and cute houses plus friendly, helpful people. Stay safe and enjoy the journey.
