I just wanted to share my current light setup. To make myself more visible in the dark, I attached a small white light to my rear rack, which points forward and up (at a 45-degree angle or so) to light up my high-vis vest. The idea is to remain visible even when there is no light to reflect.
The light is the Ascher USB rechargeable set off Amazon for about $15. I put the red light on my helmet as an extra rear light. My front light is the Cygolite Metro 800, and my rear rack-mounted light is the BikeSpark Auto-Sensing Rear Light G4R.

  2. It was only recently that I learned that hi-vis without large reflective strips (i.e most cyclist hi-vis) is actually useless at night. So now I use construction worker hi-vis.

Flashing rear lights make it hard for people behind you to see. Their eyes need to keep adjusting between dark and light. This is especially true for cyclists. Why not turn the strobe effect off?

  4. I use industrial type hi-viz , have large retro reflective stripes which show up at a mile on an unlit road . They are also very cheap . This sounds like a good idea though . Happy riding 🚵🏻‍♂️🙂
