I thought I knew what to expect on Day 1 of the Camino… I was wrong.

This is the beginning of my 11-day bike journey across the legendary Camino de Santiago. In Part 1, I ride from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, over the Pyrenees, through Pamplona, and all the way to Los Arcos — covering the first two days of an unforgettable ride filled with fog, mud, beauty, and pure Camino magic.

🚴 Route: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port → Pamplona → Los Arcos

[Music] so I’m here in Roi doing the last prep day before the Camino trip i’m going to go to Milan by car on Monday and now it’s Friday i’m going to go to Milan by car and then from there I fly to Viz and then from there the next day I try start the chamino get my passport my first stamp and yeah I have a route plan but it’s not fixed I don’t have any plan actually just like a basic sketch up of how my route should be so we’ll see what what happens like there’s many villages here and pilgrim host that I want to sleep in so I’m not scared about the the about the the sleeping uh I prepared my bike i have one seat bag i have one uh steering wheel harness with a waterproof bag and I have a frame bag big one with my drone and batteries and all the heavy stuff and it feels okay i expected it to be much heavier and more difficult to to ride with it but it feels completely okay why I’m doing this well I wanted to go all of my life i want to go on adventures but I was too heavy i was too busy i was too I don’t know i always had an excuse many excuses now I don’t have any more excuses i mean I’m ready i can do whatever I want i know it i’m aware of it so and I want to do it i want to see the Camino it was my wish for a long time it’s really difficult to do it by foot takes over 30 days so I decided and I like biking so I decided to combine the two and do it by bike i think it’s going to be amazing it’s my first bike trip so bike touring so yeah I think it’s going to be really cool it’s going to be ups and downs and I love it the bigger the the the the trouble the happier I am it’s a challenge and uh yeah we’ll see what happens [Music] we are late for the flight and have to pack the bike in 20 minutes and everybody’s relaxed as it is Monday morning and uh yeah now we are driving to Milan fast [Music] upon arrival to Gueritz I found out that they’re not going to allow me to enter the bus with the books so I had to improvise and take a taxi to Sanji at the port i found a hostel right across the pilgrim’s office and assembled my bike and got a good night’s sleep for tomorrow [Music] [Music] it’s supposed to rain it’s sunny after all so some luck beginner’s luck the beginning it’s nice for now the road is good no we’re out of today 74 km and in my whole life I was checking my Straa and Garmin stats yesterday i haven’t done more than 67 km on a regular bike so yeah in a single ride so we’ll see how it goes heat heat [Music] [Laughter] [Music] i think usually there’s an amazing view here as they said But as you can see today is not the day for views it’s okay [Music] so I saw a nice trail heading into the woods so I decided to follow it and as you can see it’s better to follow the Kamut route otherwise lots of pushing doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t cool and nice to look at [Music] [Music] just came to Roses Vales it’s I think the first place in Spain when you cross the border and you can see the weather change like instantly unbelievable spain weather sun’s shining all is green it’s wonderful i go find something to eat [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] as you can see the trails are well maintained everything is perfect there is no stones bumps this part of the trip till Pmplona is like perfectly maintained lots of tarmac lots of gravel you always get into some small village that’s picturesque and you really get like surprised from where it came from and lots of churches buildings that still have some charm in them and then after that you start climbing over another top and you get into the more rural parts which you will see now in the videos with animals horses it’s always changing horizon in one trip you see like three different horizons [Music] it’s also important to point out that the weather changes also as well four times a day [Music] to be honest the steepest most hill climbing the longest route in my life i’m a pro actually doing really good going to stop here check out some food [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] heat heat [Music] [Music] so that’s it for today hope you enjoyed today the first day and uh we’ll continue tomorrow from Pmpona onwards morning guys oh today I started a bit later it’s 9:00 and I’m looking for Macato a coffee shop do my breakfast and then I start my journey a bit later because I want to plan to do my lunch in a nice place which I forgot the name but I’ll you will know when I get there [Applause] [Music] after some rear derailer setup issues uh didn’t work but started working was in setup mode now I’m getting onto it finally starting the coming up and it’s already 10:20 so I’ll have to struggle a bit today [Applause] [Music] heat up here heat up here [Music] [Music] climbing again this is kilometer 15 and uh the first biggest climb oh 3 km long it’s okay it’s doable and what the views the views are amazing here it is the road because Kamut chose it to be but and because helps me film easier on the road but uh the views are amazing oh why did I do this i don’t Sometimes you learn that you can handle more that it’s all in your head turn the pedal one more time or make a one more step do one more meter break it down into miniature steps [Music] [Music] heat heat [Music] heat [Music] [Applause] [Music] heat heat [Music] [Music] heat [Music] so more climbing yeah I don’t talk on the downhill so much because they are like poetic just by looking at them but the climbs you have to talk make the time pass easier as well [Music] heat heat [Music] so this is by far the most budget friendly place I’ve been in well it’s not the most but it’s in top three places and trust me I’ve been in many places that are dormitories mountaineering homes in Europe this one is killing it with the savings so yeah I have a tip for you if you sleep in a dormatory or a place where there are no blinds you have a buffer you fold it over and you just put it over your eyes and it’s going to be dark perfect for sleeping that’s a good useful tip for you so I’m hammered i did supposed to do 50 kilometers 65 uh three climbs more than I should and I had no problems while doing it because of my keep turning the pedals philosophy but now I’m seriously hammered so I’m going to sleep see you tomorrow
