Went mountain biking for the first time yesterday, holy smokes are my thighs sore.

Decided to do a light 25-30 recovery spin on the local paved trail. Was feeling sluggish, bike felt sluggish, was starting to get down on myself.

I got to an intersection and impulse told me to veer off onto a road I’ve never been on before.

Well spank my bottom and call me Stanley, what a great decision. Found a tree farm (bike friendly lfg) that was a literal maze of:

Forest road
Service road
Dirt road
Some chunk
Some sand
Single track
Equestrian trail
Overgrown grass
Hiking trail
Logging road
Open views
Through the woods

Ended up doing 39 miles over 3h10m instead of a ~2h paved ride. Ride back I was smiling ear to ear. Remember kids, tarmac is whack. Stick to the gravel! Also please enjoy the myriad of objects used to prop my bike up lol
