    Nothing wrong. This happens when the bike gets wet/washed/used.

    Of the two headset bearings, the lower one always takes the most abuse. If you can, I’d suggest removing the bars/stem/fork every 3 months to clean & regrease.

    I delayed this on my BMC Teamachine because all the cables were internally routed through the bars, stem & headset, so it was a royal pita to resolve.

    My mistake, the bearing disintegrated leaving the upper race of the lower bearing firmly lodged in the head tube.

    All sorted now, but I wish I’d done it 12m earlier! 🙄

    It’s just oil weepage from the greased headset bearing. Dirt will naturally collect there.
