I’m considering buying a used Trek Marlin 7 Gen 3, but I noticed the brakes are branded Clarks instead of the Shimano MT200 brakes I expected.
Is it common for previous owners to swap out the stock brakes for Clarks? Are these Clarks brakes aftermarket upgrades or replacements? Just want to make sure I know what I’m getting before I buy.

They are aftermarket replacements. Not really an upgrade as far as I’m concerned. I’m in the US so I’m not really sure what £400 is. You’ll have to decide if you want to pay what the seller is asking. That’s the value of the bike.
Probably a replacement or “supply chain issue”. Worst case scenario, Shimano MT200 are pretty affordable.
