Yesterday I tested my new Blackburn Outpost Frame Bag and it failed. Did I just get a bad apple? Not sure if I should ask for replacement or ask for my money back and by a dirrerent framebag. In it was only a trackpant, my UL cooking set, my UL stakes and sun cream. So nothing heavy.

If you can’t return it you could probably glue it
Looks like you really stretched it out – could it not have moved forward more?
I wouldn’t give it a second chance.
Mine has worked fine for a couple of years. Bag apple. Return and hope for the best.
This is why you want things stitched. Return the bag and get something more well made.
I’d glue it and carry on.
Seems like user error. Way too much tension to hold a bag that wasn’t appropriately sized for your frame. Sure it failed more quickly than I would expect, but I would expect any bag to fail in this situation eventually.
I would get a refund and find a bag that actually fits your frame.
When I did my research, this exact issue was mentioned often and the reason I didn’t go for the Blackburn bag. Unfortunate, sry for your loss 🙁
Maybe you just shredded too hard
The bag doesn’t seem to fit your frame and that’s probably the main problem.
I have this same bag. They make it in different sizes. It looks like you didn’t buy the right size and really torqued those straps to make a bag that’s too small to fit your frame.
Happened to mine too when I put some heavier stuff in there. And it is very difficult to find a glue that works.
They have a lifetime warranty on most of their stuff, might be worth it to check if that also applies to their bags
Why was it glued in the first place? Strange idea.
Anyway, glued it back on with seamgrip. That will fix it forever.
I’ve had that happen to me with Blackburn gear. I will never buy Blackburn again.
I had that bag and the exact same thing happened, like 3yrs ago
You can draw your own conclusions from that 🙂
Buy cheap buy twice, that’s what they say.
There’s a few people in here saying that you installed it wrong, or that it doesn’t fit. They’re wrong. That is a good fit.
Unfortunately this is an uncommon but known issue for Blackburn.
I sell these, but also own 2. One of mine failed, and I’ve had maybe 1-in-50 come back to the shop. Blackburn had given a replacement each time.
It comes down to a design choice. Seam welding is better then stitching for weather/water proofing, but more prone to failure.
For $70 id get something sewn not welded. I got a custom frame bag and top tube bag from Lesenok bags on Etsy, rode it extremely hard over 50 miles on a trip with the straps velcroed tight as hell and they still look new.
Find a good tailor in your area, they’ll know what they have to do
I would try to warranty this without this picture.
You photo a bag off the bike and email it to the company.
Of course next time do not tighten opposite straps so much.
