I restored this in 2019, and I ride it a couple times a year, but I recently took it out for flat 100km ride.
Besides some discomfort with the combination of the flat pedals and Five Ten shoes (my only grippy shoes), and the fact that the brakes really suck, it was awesome.
Also, I couldn't get the saddle angle perfect. Because of the detents in the saddle clamp, the nose was either a little too low (sliding forward) or too high (bruising my scrotum). I settled for too low. 😉
The drivetrain is almost unbelievably smooth. Virtually every shift is perfect. It's quiet. I love the feel of the shifters.
First of all, I had the frame and fork powder-coated and bought reproduction decals. I used 27" alloy rims. The front hub is a SON 28 dynamo hub (and a retro-looking headlight). The saddle is modern and, of course, the cables and housing. Everything else is period-correct. Most of the components came from the original bike, and I spent many hours cleaning and polishing them by hand.
The last picture is what it looked like when I bought it.
