We have an awesome team of local trail builders around Pittsburgh, this is one of the most recent jumps they built it’s a 10-12’ table top with a wood launch maybe 10’ gap to the dirt as an alternate. Usually we don’t take videos and just ride and I do decent at dirt to dirt jumps at snowshoe and Bryce; from what I can well I need to preload more and carry more speed?
The drop in is a tech root section so the first time I was planted well but the second time my footing and body position were bad.

You’re absorbing instead of popping off the lip. The Shred Academy on YT has some good videos that I have been using to get better at this.
Stand up to the jump!
You just rode off it and got bucked pretty well both times. You need to jump much more actively and get your weight back on your rear wheel while doing it. There are a million jump tutorials out there but something like ben cathro’s how to bike and the shred academy and joy of bike make a lot of good jump vids. If you cannot do a good bunny hop might be time to practice that if your goal is gap jumps like that, poor technique is punished more the faster you go and steeper the lip and on gaps.
Tschüss nüss
You have insanely huge balls holy shit. You should be practicing jump form on table tops before just sending gaps 😂
I can guarantee your form is bad on the dirt jumps you’re “good at” and the good design/build of the jumps just auto corrects your bad form. Go back to basics and watch YouTube videos or search this sub before coming back to this jump. Or else you could go OTB and get seriously injured
Ballsy of you to give that a crack when youre not quite there yet..
Props to you for doing it, it’s a ballsy move. You’re not there yet in your progression tho, watch some yt vids on jumping technique and hit smaller jump so you don’t get injured. No injuries = more time on the bike to get better!
Gotta stretch those limbs on the lip, but props for the guts to send it!
Ya gotta stand up to the jump.
Dude you’ve gotta “stand up” to the jump . On the approach you’re gotta get ready and then at the lip you’ve literally, you’ve gotta pop up and stand parallel to the face of the jump . Does that make any sense ?
On the second one you have to bail on the bike or you’re going to continue to decrease your chances of having kids
You’re not ready for this, go back to a tabletop and practice timing, standing to the jump and pushing your feet against the kicker, you’re jumping while sitting down
Nice job shooting the video. Ben Cathro could make an excellent tutorial from your angle. There are lots of good recommendations here — start working on your form with some smaller jumps. Stay safe, dude.
Advice. Do not jump this! You are not ready. Please start on tabletops and get comfortable in the air. That could of been so bad my friend.
Dial it waaaay back and start with some mellower stuff. You’ll be there in no time. Courage is not your problem. 😂
You got som ballzz.heavy ones
Good old frick!
Thanks for the suggestions
Your legs are collapsing instead of extending going up the jump. It’s causing you to go backseat off the lip preloading the rear more than the front which bucks you forward. You need to stand up to the jump and put more of your weight into the forks. Don’t die, though, maybe practice improving your form on something smaller.
As others have said. You are fighting the jump with your body position. You are stiff and locked which is kicking your rear end up. Ride with the angle of the jump and pop the lip ever so gently and pick up a bit more speed.
Holy cajones
You don’t preload your suspension first (or maybe it’s too firm) & then pop, & that’s partly why you’re being jolted on take off & landing shirt. Practice small & build up
Listen to all the peoples advice and don’t get hurt.
Local dirt bike track was almost all tabletops, super smooth, hit em as you please and no problem landing jumps. One week a noticed they added a tripple in a the middle of what was normally a long flat area. No biggie, there was a bypass. I was talking to the the owners nephew who basically had just came on the scene and was trying to spruce things up. I asked him why neck breaker in the middle of the flat area as the launch was pretty steep. He said “quit being a P, follow me through and I will show you how it’s done”. I said nah, I don’t heal as well as I used to. I can’t make this stuff up, we went out there a month later and he was in a neck and back brace. He had come up short on the triple and scorpioned, broke his neck or back or both I can’t remember exactly but it sounded awful. I am really surprised he told me since he was adamant it was a completely safe addition!
All it takes is one time!
Loam Ranger has a good jump video. Search stand up to the jump.
Ride on. First jump, nice.
You’ve got some cojones sir to do this without good form. You don’t need any more speed. You need to stand up and push against the transition. You aren’t committed and you’re simply riding the ramp hoping speed will take you, with your knees bent and you are absorbing the entire thing….which is why you are getting bucked, not popping it or clearing it.
Stand up to the jump, that’s the only thing you should remember
Bro is ending in Hospital very soon.
