There are certainly cheaper routes that I would still call xbiking, but at least this expensive derailleur doesn’t need to be charged and should last you a good few decades if you keep an eye on it.

No no no no, you buy the $200 bike that’s not your size because it has the $130 derailleur you ‘need’ for you $30 bike and now you have a whole bike worth of parts-bin stuffers AND a frame to build-up with an entirely different set of parts just in case you have a friend who might be thinking of trying out cycling.

Oh that’s just the start. Now add up costs for 1X crank, Wolftooth narrow/wide chainring, Velo Orange or Surly handlebar, Paul components, front and rear rack….. Need to spend at least $1000 on your $30 bike to qualify.

There was an XTR rear on OfferUp recently for $20. For about 15 minutes. I passed on it because I am lame, but someone better than me scored big.

  5. Definitely one of the prettier ones they made. I have the rapid rise version on one of my bikes.

X-biking is only running Rapid Rise with handlebars that nobody has ever seen or heard of and $500 brakes.
