I got a new frame bag ( ortlieb ) and the Velcro straps just don't do it for me. They catch on bibs and sun shirts and tear them up.
I attempted to lace it to the frame with parachord which works very well, but it could be better.
I was thinking of just getting a hole punch and making more holes in the upper flap so I can lace it up a bit cleaner and all across the top tube of the frame.
Thoughts?

this looks like a good idea. But you will get some dust and sand in there and that scratches the paint. You might want to use some frame protection.
i have lace up bags- they are ok – not quick to put on and off – what is wrong with the velcro?
You are supposed to cut them to size. It helps for me
I don’t like frame bags for that very reason, (unless the strap is Velcro and the soft part is facing up). Attach it any way you can.
But also the frame bag looks a little big for your frame?
Looks like your frame bag is mounted next to your frame… It’s so big.
Looks good to me. Life is too boring to follow directions. Everything can be improved for each individual use case.
You won’t need the extra connections. They hold very well in place.
