Cycling a folding e-bike up the hardest climbs in the uk – Great Dun Fell!

🚴‍♂️ I took on Great Dun Fell – the highest paved road in Britain – but with a twist… I used an e-bike.
Some might call it cheating, I call it enjoying the views without destroying my legs! This iconic climb in the Pennines is no joke, with brutal gradients and unpredictable weather.

[Music] morning and welcome to the channel and today I’m on my Enu folding powerful ebike and I am going to be doing uh great dumbfell and uh test out the power of this it’s not only that see if the battery will last long enough and make it get up the top because this is the sort of bike you won’t be riding with no power but yeah let’s see if we can get to the top i can just see it in the distance now let’s quickly show you and you see up there the big white dome on the top so hopefully come with me and uh see the views and see if we can get this anyway up the top let’s go so behind me there there’s plenty of parking right at the start if uh you just want to do dumbfell the climb itself but yeah let’s see what power this can give me and uh hopefully I don’t run out of battery cuz I’ve got about a 2 mile ride from here where I parked so it’s not a bike you want to be running out of battery on but let’s give it a go it’d be a good wrecky anyway cuz I want to come up on me road bike and do this so basically if I can get up there fully I can I can see how steep it is and the bits where I didn’t get last time as obviously I did a failed attempt uh I’ll put that at the end of this video if you want to watch that where I tried on me uh be a game but I was absolute knackered about halfway up so anyway let’s see what how this gets on let’s stay on me chest and you can enjoy the views then and I’ll talk while you’re on me chest let’s go so there’s me first bit of steep section coming up towards the uh trees there as you can see gets a bit steep and it starts flattening off a bit and another little bit of steep bit so yeah let’s test out this bike so I’ve got no mount for me uh thing so I’ve just got it in me pocket but that’s a climb I’m doing at the minute i’m about a quarter of the way up i’ve still got a hell of a lot of steep sections to do but I’ve come up quite far i’m nearing the point of where I had to turn back when I failed so when I get to that I’ll show you but let’s carry on going i just wanted to show you the Garmin [Music] so right I’m at the exact spot where I failed last time i was just totally out of gas and today it took me 10 minutes to get here and my legs have not really done much this ebike is something special as you can see if you’ve done dumbfound before that’s the uh probably near halfway mark I’d say but there’s still some really steep bits to get to that dome so let me see if we can get there let me get you back on the bike and let’s go [Music] yeah if you are interested in getting one of these Enway folding so I’ve got to be conscious of that uh I need one bar left uh to get back to the car once I’ve descended all this so I’m going to have to be careful with that but yeah absolute beautiful day look like you can see the full length of the Lake District full length right from right down Connisson Manway to the Irish Sea right up to Blancafra absolute stunning it’s a bit hazy but yeah absolute fantastic bit more steep and then I get a bit of a flat and then I’ve got the big horrible 20% bit so let’s see how we get on there and I’ll see I’ve got some battery left but let’s get you back on the chest just a stroll in the park really on this see all the snow poles hopefully we won’t get snow this time of year [Music] a tiny bit of descending before I tackle the big steep section and uh just slightly worried about me battery but I’m hoping to get to the top i’ve come this far yeah got the steep section i think in some bits it gets 25% so this bike’s going to be tested big time i did take up Rhino’s pass though so hopefully it should do well so I’ve got a steep horrible 25% bit now and yeah my legs are working definitely pushing this heavy bike up the motor’s not doing everything that’s for certain not on this steep section anyways [Music] heat heat [Music] [Music] woo i made it this is some achievement for me even on the ebike I never thought I’d get up here two years ago even a year ago when I failed that was a nice town over there yeah absolutely amazing achievement absolutely fantastic i’m really really happy with that uh yeah managed to get the top i’ve got one bar left so hopefully it’ll get me down here cuz I won’t have the power on but then to the car i’m probably about four miles away from the start point but yeah what a view what a view yeah fantastic hope doing work and I do not with the wind I do not want this drone interfering with our crane and stuff so I come a little bit away but hopefully the footage is still nice and good but yeah I’ve got this nice big huge descent to come down you can more or less see it as you go right along there down and right down and then basically my car is parked where that little town thing is there just around near there so yeah one battery to get me there but most of it’s downhill so should be good and yeah thanks for watching i appreciate it i’m I’m so happy you can see that I’ve managed to get up here yeah I did have to from where the flat bit comes and then when you start doing the 25% bit I did have to put a lot of grafting on the legs to get up this bike didn’t do it all but for the first few miles of it it the bike did most of the work on the uh steady way up yeah just glad I could be up here and uh I’ve made it next one is uh hopefully I’ve got an a beer den to come and uh try out and that’ll be interesting to try that up here cuz that’s got some power as well and uh hopefully I’ll have that for a a few days or a few weeks just to test it out and bring it to you so yeah thanks for bring you more bikes to the channel so yeah anyways let’s get further down here epic and cuz them workmen are up there happy days cuz the gates open usually have to go around here not today yes what an absolute view heat [Music] up That was absolute unreal descent i need to get up here more often on my other bikes it’s absolute fantastic car free while the farmer tried to get his horses in but other than that absolute fantastic and the brakes on this are unreal hydraulic brakes no sweat no problem so that’s where you can park if you just want to go direct straight up uh I’ll leave my route on because where I’ve parked it’s free parking but you get probably about three mile of leg warming if you want to warm your legs up first before you tackle it and obviously like I said it’s free so yeah look out for that route if you want to do it and yeah I mean if you are thinking about buying one of these way folding bikes I mean I’ve just proved that you can get up the highest paved road in Britain up to top of Dumbfell uh did it with quite a lot of ease to be honest i didn’t put that much effort in only on the 25% bit and uh yeah it was really good it worked really well so it can get you up any climb you want for one and the battery like I said I’ve got one bar left but I’ve done over well over 2,000 ft of climbing i’m just pushing over 13 miles now so I mean when you think of the climbing I’ve done well over 2,000 ft and the heaviness of the bike I’d say the battery is really good especially if you’re going to be doing a lot more flat riding and stuff but yeah this will get
