Just opened this up for the first time and the bottom headset bearing just sits on top of the carbon fork, there are no seals underneath so exposed to the weather getting in (which explains the bearings condition). The top bearing has multiple seals around the stearer tube so well protected. Anyone else come across this? Is there something missing? Specialized Sirus (aly frame). Thanks

Nah that’s normal.
Those bearings are called ‘sealed bearings’ so they themselves seal the actual bearings from the elements. It’s important to take the bearings out and clean/ grease them so the rust doesn’t build up. I do it about every 6 months in my road bike
If you had seals at the bottom, water wouldn’t be able to get out either.
My 2004 LeMond Victoria titanium frame has the same “internal headset” and is smooth to this day.
Thanks all for the replies, really helpful
