stage six of the tow Swiss and surely one for the fast med who could break their hearts well the possibility of a breakaway and time running out for anybody who wanted to get anything out of this race was not in a dominant position as far as that’s concerned would there be any gaps found today possibly over the weekend with a lumpy day and then a time trial but first one for the fast men some nerves at the beginning possibly due to the length of the day 87 km no laughing matter whatsoever they rolled out in sunshine it was a hot day as well 28 Celsius starting off in Ture Destination Neihazen and the Rinfalls well some climbing towards the beginning of the day would open it up and then of course a long old reach before ultimately a sprint nothing certain in this race and today was pretty much the same scenario you had to be brave to take it on just look at it lumpy stuff and then that gnarly finale well we had a breakaway of four riders but what a powerhouse they turned out to be harry Sweeny Steven Kung and Maros Schmidt all decent time trial it’s Roman Gregoire a man who didn’t let his shoulders drop after losing indeed the lead of this race the day prior and so it was it was to be a chase bookland our new leader with a 29 second margin over Julian Alfalipe who might have some fun on stage seven and 39 seconds of course on Almeida what pressure would there be today well early signs were that this would be a long slow winding there had been a chase up the road with Mic and Bill Ba from Bahrain along with Costia from Ara bizarrely but seven men up the road would have been too much for the pelatin to cope with and so they had to work very very hard to moderate proceedings throughout the day slowly but surely the gap was held and started to close and Roman Craig did an amazing job trying to pay Stefan Kung to a bit of glory kung himself going home bizarrely not leaving the race you understand just the destination was where he was brought up so every single inch of the road was in his mind he was also mindful that this could be a great opportunity so when Roman Gregoire pulled the pin Chappo to him Maro Schmidt was very much still there likewise Harry Sweeney and of course Stephan Kung himself so a three-up time triing unit chased down by some behind that were starting now to get a little bit worried lotto were doing an awful lot of work other sprint teams Red Bull Bora Hasgra man the pumps as well and for the time being at least the gap was holding roman Gregoire was going back to the pack just about to be welcomed in open arms you might say ups and darnic were doing some work so were XS Astana Chuda were getting engaged as well in fact Lotto put two riders on the front such was their determination to tee up Arno Dele for something special at the end as far as the Tisso sprint went the watch of course went to the men up the road well they were being watched sometimes quite literally so when the roads straightened out but there was some waiverss to have and some wages to be had as well if you were in play would these guys make it home well it seemed with 22 km to go that 3/4 a minute would not be enough but as we got closer to the line we started to reconsider 16 seconds still with just 6 km remaining how much are they left in the tank how much was there left to give well Sweeney himself possibly the least likely of the trio to to carry it but once we actually made the turn with 2.7 km remaining it was clear now that this was all over for the breakaway so brave they had been it was indeed the great effort by Maro Schmidt that had held everyone in obeyance competivity award presumably going his way and then they sailed through early roll of the dice for EF for education easy post but really this was going to come down to who’d got anything left and if you had a teammate that was going to be a very big luxury and if you got Delhi van Ppple luxury indeed an armchair ride for Johnny Mayos who lit it up pushed to the line and was not to be beaten super result for him and a super drive as well for David Balerini from SCSA for whom Alberto Betiel the Italian champion had worked so hard deli in the Belgian national kit kind of went backwards you had to have something in the tank louis Asi once again very far up towards the front got himself a day’s podium on the throw but nothing could stop our day’s winner jordi Mayos ahead of Balerini lewis Aski mikkels was up there so was Baratti that was your top five as for the overall it stays pretty much the same the bearded figure of Jordi Mayos did it at the Shon did it here as well strong man got through the mountains well kevin Vocaland still leads with a lumpy day tomorrow and then a time trial he can time trial he leads by 29 seconds ahead of Julian Phelipe and Sha Ma who’s in the black jersey so what will happen tomorrow drama you can be absolutely sure a breakaway might have some fun but really there will be a GC battle seconds are going to be hunted let’s have a look at it it’s no easy task day stage seven not at all well we play with some of the valleys some of the foothills and then of course the lakes as well category 2 tests are out there to Denal and hurt and an uphill finish may only be category three but at the end of a long day of 207 kilometers it could be fatigue plays its part just look at it are you ready to go racing again we are we’ll see you tomorrow

  1. Surely time for Carlton to ‘roll with the punches’, ‘engage the drive’, ‘and indeed’ hang up his microphone. It’s been a good run, but getting a bit stale now.
