Is my frame compromised?
So all I read about frame damage is related to cracks but how about this? Long story short, I had a fall on this bike in 2022 and my frame hit a rock. I had REI deny service to my bike since they considered this “compromised”. Am I in danger riding this bike or does REI just have a strict policy to protect their company?
It’s been 3 years since this happened and I’ve actually been riding this harder than before. I over-forked it and I’ve been hitting bike parks, jumps and gaps with it. Just curious if I’m in real danger here…

lol
Is it just the paint or the frame itself? It’s hard to tell from the picture, looks deeper than the paint/coating.
Is it carbon? I mean, you’ve been riding it for 3 years lol, it’s probably fine.
Yes it’s now weaker than it was
Slap on a favorite sticker, and send it!
Oh, then take it back for service
That looks compromised to me. I wouldn’t ride it.
One solid trip to the ER and a day or two in the hospital will cost you more in cash than the best frame you can buy. Not to mention how annoying the injury and recovery is.
That’s definitely weakened. How weakened? Every time it send it you’re rolling the dice to find out.
*edit*
Should mention that’s for the US. In a civilized country with proper health care, it’d just be the pain and suffering I guess.
It’ll be fine
Probably fine. I’d get it patched.
I have nothing to add about your frame, but can I just slap insulation on my garage doors like that and have it make a difference?
