Cycling from Holland through Germany to Denmark, doing the Unisee parkrun near Bremen along the way
was in tag day 62 of Where’s DS and Where’s DS is in Germany i’ve just crossed over from the Dutch border and heading towards Breman i should get there tomorrow where I’m hoping to do the Breman park run tomorrow morning Saturday morning and from there I’m only going to be in Germany for maybe less than a week i’ll head up towards Hamburg but avoid Hamburg and get the ferry across to I think it’s Klux or something to cross the river Elb further north just to avoid the traffic and city life of Hamburg but then cross over the river and then head due north pretty much along the coast all the way up to um the Danish border so that’s my cunning plan for Germany um behind me they have a little already little rest areas i mean Poland is great already the Germans have got a smarty points with um little shelters which the Dutch seem to miss anyway so continue on to Breman and see what Germany holds for us heat heat [Music] evening uh long day 89 miles today um camped on the edge of this forest or farmer’s field behind me nice and quiet nice and secluded so I’ve put the tent up i’ve had my tea from been to Aldi’s i’m stuffed so I’m going to set up now it’s got another half hour till um sunset and get my Kindle out and read my Jules Vern 80 Days Around the World but then tomorrow it’s only 45 miles to Breman where I’ve got a campsite next to the park run all being well so all be well i’ll see you in the morning [Music] morning i’ve left my campsite in the national park and I’m cycling across to Breman we have a we have a campsite right in the city center I think so it should be a nice day sunny again only about 45 miles to do yeah should be a nice nice steady day [Music] well I just had a very enjoyable hour and a half with Peter who we just met in the village of Kuratton um he offered to buy me a coffee we sat and chatted for an hour and a half about life about his life my life um he spoke about Buddhism so he’s g me some information about Buddhism so really nice experience and I will speak I’ll speak with Peter again in the future i do not have any doubt about that anyway I’ll continue my way to Bremen [Music] [Music] good Morning so I’m leaving my H campsite and heading north towards uh Hamburg but crossing the river Ela at Cook Island I think so I want I should get to Cooksten today um so yeah I’m going to get on the way it’s only half 7 early start need to get some miles in today no wind at the moment [Music] [Music] a bit of a boo but all the shops I’ve come across have been closed so I’m completely out of food um it’s getting a bit of a life and death situation now but um I’ve done 34 miles but I’ve got some water but luckily I’ve come across this little place so McDonald’s saves the day fantastic place [Music] i love a ferry i’m at the Elb River crossing avoiding Hamburg so uh exciting i love a love of a lover look how much it costs [Music] [Music] so I’m off the ferry now it’s uh It was a great ferry it took um almost half an hour by the time we unloaded um €6 well spent there bit breezy now but I’m heading towards basically up there the north and looking for a campsite somewhere nearby got my new shower pass jacket on cuz the wind is really quite forceful around here so I’m looking for my campsite this headwind is crazy that’s the downside of cycling by the seaside i’ve got about 10 miles to go to the campsite probably take about 2 hours I think it’s hard work evening uh it’s been a tough old day 75 miles with a horrendous headwind but then I found a little gem of a campsite next to a connected with a restaurant and bar so I’ve had a lovely evening meal which is good cuz I’ve got no food left lovely campsite lovely shower so I’m going to have an early night and enjoy the rewards of a very good day so tomorrow heading to Aldi or Little that’s on my agenda is to restock for my uh on my heading north so yes no no so Germany does not do Sunday uh trading which is probably quite a good thing i quite like the idea of keeping Sunday special obviously except for pubs and McDonald’s but besides that yeah it’d be good to have a little a chill out day once a week so Germany well done well done Germany [Music] good evening i think this must warrant is my quirkiest campsite so far it’s basically a um there’s a toilet and a shower over in the um over there and there’s a boat and there’s some shet ponies in the field so yeah definitely the quirkiest campsite and it’s free these people just let people camp in their sort of it’s like the darling birds of May it’s just uh quite idilic but tomorrow I’m it should be my last day in Germany tomorrow and then I should cross over the border tomorrow afternoon into Denmark and I’ll catch you over there that’s it Germany thanks very much except for the wind and I’ll see you again in a few months time all being well take care alazine pet
