[Music] today the tour of Switzerland entered a brutal phase the first of two days of real high alpine tests Something that had loomed large since the beginning of this great race Well we started off in sunshine In fact it was the nicest day that we’ve had weatherwise Bit of a stiff breeze borrowing in from the north moving to northwest but largely a tailwind for much of the day as we headed south This the none too small matter of 193 kilometers but with 2,793 m of altitude gain most of it in a huge mountain test right at the heart of the day So a long drag before we got to our climb and then a long descent off the back of it This could well prove to be pivotal We all knew that How would it be coped with it begged to break away and we got one Seven brave souls went up the roads and that started to wear down just a little bit as Quinn Simmons winner of stage three found himself in the break yet again Well there was a few others that wanted to join the fun but it wasn’t fun at all as it started to have a a big big impact Andrew August one of the Americans that was heading backwards We’d also had some perilous up the road as well Coming along for the ride early on was Larry Warbass but ultimately our breakaway was to be tagged Well there was a lot of power being put down by UE Emirates on behalf of Sha Omeda who came into this race as absolute favorite Kind of messed it up strategy wise on the opening day when Roman Gregoire took control of the race and this was about putting the hurt on the Frenchman from Grubama Francis The yellow jersey was starting to struggle But then again so were many others with the sheer pace and endeavor that was being put down and demanded by Shia himself He didn’t want any company And slowly but surely he was shaking off those who would try and stay with him Checks over shoulders Felix Galvenia was also here But Armeda had something extra A sheer desire to put as much space between himself and Roman Gregoire as he possibly could on this day And with another high mountains day still to come what would the gap likely be at this point a minute and 15 over the top of the big test and then a long long over 36 km of descending before a pick up to the line at the end Well it was a big question What would Kevin Vocal do he was part of a group that also managed to distance Roman Gregoire Meanwhile Shaomeda was just pushing on a series of steps part of this descent and he was holding a margin Vulcan himself knew that he had to stay away from the yellow jersey who’d got help from Julian Alfalipe out there Lennon Kemno also forming part of a trio that would get back to that chasing group and former a real falance of riders that was trying to get back at Shiao Armeda Armed himself was calling for bidons but it was just to cool down Such was the effort he was putting in and there was a stall as the main chase groups and the main jerseys came back together Valanine carrying the young riders jersey on behalf of Gregoire But this man still had a margin 36 seconds bounced to 44 as he still kicked on And then it was that Ben O’ Connor decided he was going to have a dig along with Oscar Onley Both well placed on previous days but nobody better than this man Almeida crossed the line spitted almost all the way to it and then the clock began to count How much time would he gain obviously the 10 bonus seconds went his way as well but starting off with the 3 minutes and 27 deficit at the beginning of the day that was going to be amended Oddly picked up four bonus seconds six I should say And there came Okconor to the line as well And then Gregoire versus Vocalam No gap between them declared but Vocal with some bragging rights as he crossed the line in the young riders jersey A retrieval you might say for Gregoire or a minute found by this man Super super work by Almeida His problem is he’s got to do it all over again Well it was a minute as far as the gaps were concerned but a 10-second bonus as well meant he found a minute and 10 on the day on the leader Glorious Nice smile from him He might be doing the same again when we get to Kalanka on stage five Four category ones Roman Gregoire under pressure most notably as well I guess from Vulcan Better Connor up into fourth place Juliana Fleet now in third But look at that Shia Ma is now in seventh He’s got to find a couple of minutes Some of that will be made up of course in the time trial But for now Roman Gregoire is still in control of this race after a very very brave ride He’s going to have to do it all again tomorrow With four category 1 tests including the run to the line to be dealt with That is no easy task An enormous amount of altitude gain on the cards It could be tough from the very start until the very end of 184 km Their pain is our entertainment Make sure you tune in for the queen stage of the tour to Swiss It’s been fabulous so far Tomorrow it gets brutal We’ll see you then [Music]

Ooh! First comment! Great race today!
🤩🤩
Kirby comment what a disgrace
calling it the tour of switzerland is like calling TdF the tour of france. this shouldn't be allowed
Bota Lume!!!🔥🔥🔥 Vai Almeida…🥇🥇
Bota lume
It is to the enternal shame of cycling that it allows a team that is promoting a racist apartheid state race. It gets worse that state has been commiting a genocide against the Palestine people for 21 months and is now engaged in a war of aggression against Iran. And so people are clear, the crimes of genocide and war of aggression are considered the worse crimes in international law.
Ah yes another win for the squeaky clean team UAE 😂

Almeida mode Pogacar activé…j'aime trop cette génération de cycliste bravo UAE
Almeida is a great climber but his descending is not the best. No surprise they'd clawed half the advantage back by the finish. A mountain top finish suits him better.
Joao Almeida on the podium at the Tour anyone?
Let’s go Almeida
Almeida , same as the other UAE riders : prepared !!
Good to see Kämna coming back in form after his crash
Lets go Almeida
Free Palestine! Israel is a terror state.
.. and tomorrow gets brutal. We'll see you then 😉
