[Music] good morning it’s Monday i know it’s Monday and I’m going out on another small pub crawl it’s not going to be a massive one i’m only going to Newcastle you can make your own opinions uh but I’ll try and not get too drunk cuz I’m actually going up for uh to learn more about the history of the Great North Road in Newcastle so I’m at Grantham about to catch the train up to Newcastle with a change in Newark and then we’ll get started for a few hours then I’ve got to come back home so uh let’s get it done [Music] [Music] hey guys I’ve just arrived in Newcastle back at the station when I was only here a few days ago but to recommence the second part of my great north road soccer ball without the bike today cuz there’s no point bringing a bike when you only got to be walking less than a mile so let’s pack on let’s find a pub i heard there’s a shitload of them and first off I’ve actually got to go into the underground for the first time ever i’ve never actually done it here in Newcastle i’m quickly going to go to Gossport to tick off five pubs there on the Great North Road and then backtrack into Newcastle Central that is the plan for today so uh let’s get on so you’re probably wondering guys why I’m on the Titan Metro going into Goss in the northern suburbs of Newcastle when I’m meant to be going along Great North Road well I’m actually going to do five pubs on Carfinder in Gosport because when I cycle from Newcastle Central Station to Beric on the next leg that’s what I’m hoping to do those pubs will be closed in the morning and I really want to tick them off so I’m going to quickly these five pubs and then backtrack to Newcastle central and recommence the Great North Road pub crawl without the bike so guys this is Goss fourth this is the actual main high street which is the Great North Road you can see how wide it is got the old fire station over there love the buses there’s so many buses up here and nice old buildings over there but here’s my first port of call the Gospel Hotel Bar seriously guys I’m just about to show you some photos but this is the county pub on the high street aka the great north road in Gosport in the northern suburbs in Newcastle voted camera pub of the year this for this year seriously it’s managed by Green King Brewery now Green King Brewery when I uh tickle pubs and castinder probably one of the biggest pub chains known on the app and I’m not joking when you’ve probably done about 300 Green Kings when you just walk in and it’s just IPA Abbert and maybe something else like Abbert Reserve yeah they’re great beers but you kind of get bored with the beers i have just gone into this pub and they’ve had a few hours from Scotland the local area as I didn’t see any Green King IPA so that pub there is probably one of the best Green King pubs in the country let alone the county or the Newcastle area in the country so if you guys are in Gford you need to uh check out the county pub i’ve highly recommend it and the decor inside is very very splendid so guys I’m currently in the Green King pub in uh Gosp just look at these amazing ales now you know guys we always uh slag off Green King but you got all those ales and you got your fitty pot there but there’s quite a few als I haven’t tried here before so guys I’ve actually found probably one of the best green kings in the whole country so guys I’ve done with gas absolutely great pub called taking off the five uh cast mark pubs but now I’ve got to quickly get back on the train back to Central and this is where it could get a bit weird going back to Newcastle on the Great North Road right guys so I’m back in Newcastle the center of the city of course all right okay so this is I’ve just done six pubs so equivalent to three pints i’m back at the high level bridge just behind me and this building right behind me is Newcastle Kip Keep part of the old fortress of Newcastle the actual castle is around here somewhere my brother told me it’s not much to look at but I might try and find it but that’s what the city is known for and behind me is the old Roman Roman fort of Port Alas that is where the first civilization uh came along uh and turned it into like some sort of small town back then in the Roman times when they’re making their conquest north through uh the ancient kingdom or Britannia I think you call it didn’t get far they met the Scots so Scots gave him a good bashing and they didn’t get far north as that uh also Newcastle is the end of Adrian’s Wall on the East Coast side um not sure if I’m going to see any of it today i’ll try and find it but uh yeah but I hear more pubs calling Believe it or not guys this is actually the last pub I need to do on the Great North Road in Newcastle i’ve already done Gossip Wolf earlier this morning so I’m all set up for the next uh leg the cycle ride including pubs between Newcastle and Beric i’m going to try and tick off a few more pubs in Newcastle before I come but yeah technically this is the last one on the Great North Road i’m very very tipsy i’ve lost count of all the pubs so uh I’ve got a few more hours left before my last train home so I’m going to enjoy it cheers so guys yep even though I’ve just done all the uh pubs on the Great North Road through Newcastle and Goss I bit tipsy i wouldn’t say drunk i know what I’m doing and all that i’ve eaten a shitload of food and drunk a lot of water you know I don’t want to eat but I know I’ve got to keep eating but I’m just taking off a few more casts find the pubs and I might quickly uh make a trip up to St james’s Park it’s been about 20 odd years since I last been there in fact it been like 30 odd years since I’ve been there you know but uh it’s got to be done i’m sure there’s some pubs up there to do so there is a saying in this country in England if there’s a city at the top of the hill there’ll be a cathedral so you can see the main center of the city sorry I’m a little bit drunk right now well Newcastle there’s no cathedral at the top of the hill that’s further down towards the T on top of the hill is St james’s Park home to Newcastle United Football Club in the Premier League and to be honest they’re like gods around here so Newcastle Football Club i’m here i’m going to quickly check it out i ain’t been here since 1998 since Steven Ba lost here 2-1 in their FA Cup 4 replay which we should have done alan Shu had a goal scored it shouldn’t have been um allowed but hey it’s one of those things heyo Newcastle went on further into progress in the f more rounds of the FA Cup but still Newcastle their fans and all that are fantastic everywhere I’ve been been around the city on Thursday and today everyone well not everyone but everyone’s like wearing black and white shirts and all that newcastle Football Club is religion around here and uh yeah I’m just going to quickly walk around it and head to my next pub so guys I’ve just been in the club shop at Newcastle United Football Club i’ve actually done it it’s the first time here literally 30 years since I’ve been here since Stevenage lost 2-1 in FA Cup 4 Replay but I’m just going to go across the road now to the Strawberry my brother recommends it and a lot of football fans go there obviously on match day so I’m going to check it out god I’m so [ __ ] wankered right now is it safe to cross the road a cross it get a better view of the stadium behind me but yeah this is one of the uh few football stadiums on the Great North Road uh if I can quickly count them off so on the Great North Road you got Arsenal and then Steamage is nearby peter Bau is nearby uh BRA mate uh Doncaster over is probably not Y no York City is not even on the Great North Road so stop talking there Daniel um Darlington they’re non league now unfortunately hope they’d be back in the football league soon um so yeah Newcastle after Emirates Stadium I suppose it’s literally just off the Great North Road and maybe Beric Rangers in the Scottish League yeah I don’t know but let’s get in that strawberry i want a pint we’ve been together [Music] loving you forever oh yes [Music] let me build [Music] my Let’s times are You make everything [Music] [Music] he’s the hero of the day [Music] it takes a man to stop smile he is still no matter what they say wo why [Music] at me oh the only one I see so very very is all that I can give to you love is more than just [Music] making you take my heart but please don’t break your [Music] So guys I’ve finished uh I can’t remember how many pumps I’ve done but I’ve got a break for the way home i’ve got a lot more food in the background bloody cold but I just don’t care i’ve just had a great day out so I’m on Newcastle Central Station i’m about to get my last train home to Grandm i’ve had an absolutely fantastic day here ticking off the pubs on Cast Finder on the Great North added on a few extra pubs afterwards um cuz I wanted to visit the football ground and all that but it’s just been absolutely fantastic newcastle is one of my favorite cities in the UK to um explore and the history is amazing and of course the pubs are amazing the locals are fantastic and they’ve also got the best football fans in the world sorry I’m not a Newcastle fan but they are just absolutely fantastic so um yeah on to Beric so guys I’m just arrived back in Graham from 2 hours after leaving Newcastle kind of sobered up now uh so yeah so Newcastle I’ve done all the pubs on the Great North Road as per the cast finder app that was the uh the main point of this uh journey now it’s a case of Oh by the way I did all the pulsing Goss forth as well um as I explained earlier so the next leg of the leg uh cycle by pub crawl it’s between Newcastle and Beric i will sort out all the logistics after that and then it’s Beric to Edinburgh so it’s not actually much to do there’s not much pubs to do there’s a lot more history and cycling involved to be honest i hope you guys still stick with me on this but Newcastle that was the last heavy drinking place so uh crazy but I got it done and I absolutely enjoyed it
