Hi all, been staring at this and going insane. I am trying to get the gears smooth on my new Kickr V6 / 2025 Defy Advanced 1. I bought a new Shimano 105 CS-HG710 11-36 12-Speed Cassette for the kickr. I can adjust it in – middle gears are smooth but top/bottom gears are crunchy. Looking at the cassette on the wheel of the bike versus the new one on the kickr I swear that the bike ones are uniform spacing but the kickr ones aren’t – especially between 3/4/5. I’ve read the shimano instructions and it’s installed correctly – I thought maybe I was missing a small spacer. Have I somehow bought the wrong cassette? Any help appreciated.
First pic is the wheel that came on the bike and the second is the new cassette on the kickr. Also I haven’t done more than 100kms on the bike so I’m thinking it’s not a chain issue.

That’s 8,9,10 that are too close together, but I’ve not played with a 12 speed cassette, so can’t offer any advice on why it might be like that?
I’d certainly agree that’s why it’s not shifting properly…
Are you running 11-36 on your Defy? You’re certainly missing a spacer between 8-9 and 9-10. No way you’re getting proper shifting without it.
Thank you both. Definitely 12 on the defy. I’m going to remove it again and see whether I’ve put one in the wrong location. At least I’m getting good at removing cassettes!
