Hiya, plan on eventually getting my first proper FS, decided to just wait and spend around 5k on one, that has wireless shifting and won't need much in regards to upgrades. But kinda torn, as I can see Canyon tends to have outlet sales for some fairly good value at least it seems, running full CF bike, with CF wheels and wireless parts, vs Propain for 5k I speced out a Spindrift AL 29 with full Fox Kashima , wireless shifting and color I quite liked. If you had a choice, which one would you guys/gals go with? I personally was thinking the Propain purely due to the way it looks and overall design which I prefer.

Love my Propain Tyee CF. Almost went for the Spindrift but wanted something a bit lighter and more playful.

  2. I’m not highly intune with the market or brands etc

But I’d go for the Propane. Less common where I am so I think it has the cool factor.

Both great looking bikes and specd well.

Out of the 2 I’d go propain, I personally ended up paying $1400 cad in import fees and ended up pulling a damaged bike out of the box when it arrived when I got my canyon. That being said it could happen with propain too.

The propain is the nicer bike in my opinion.

Edit: what are you planning on riding with it? The propain is burlier and probably won’t pedal as good as the canyon.

I ride the current generation spindrift in carbon. Assuming the terrain your riding supports it (it’s big bike) I’ve not found another bike on the market that ticks all the boxes this one does. It’s surprisingly efficient at pedaling, while being supportive and long-legged at all the right times.

Keep in mind that while the seat post insertion has improved from the last gen, the suspension design still means that it has quite a tall seat tube. I’m 5’11 and ride a large with a 210 dropper, but just barely. if I was 5’10 I would be shimming down to 200m on the dropper.

  5. Two different bikes, one for enduro(propain) and one for Trail(Canyon), are you choosing a bike on looks and not functionality for the trail your iride at?

That Propain in pink looks sick and all other things being fairly equal looks is gonna be the final nail.

  7. I’d generally prefer the Propane but it’s pretty hard to argue with the spec on that canyon for the price, yeesh. I think you probably want to decide which travel category you’re going for though. The Tyee is an enduro bike and the Canyon is solidly a trail bike.

The Spectral and Spindrift are different beasts, this is a kinda apples and oranges. You’ve got a pretty versatile (though beefy) all mountain bike vs the Spindrift which is an absolute tank of a bike. Pick the one that suits where and what you’ll ride more. I’d say if you’re riding uplifts and park more get the Spindrift, otherwise probably the Spectral.

  9. For me Propain will be my choice, wont touch a CF Canyon since a lot of canyon owners i know had snapped frames more frecuently than other ppl with different mtb brands.

  10. Pink one. I don’t care about details, that pink and the shiny logo is sick.

Based on aesthetics alone the Propane would be my choice hands down, but both have pretty outstanding components either way.

  12. Propain. Sick looking bike. Not sure if you’re going fox or rockshox, but the 180mm Rockshox vivid air has some special tech to give it a extremely supple feel and it’s only like 400 bucks to add it on to the spindrift.

You should go with that, then. In the end you buy a bike to enjoy it and have fun with it. Also, as a Spindrift 5 AL owner it’s a really good bike, though my setup is almost entirely different except the groupset.

i don’t know much about bikes and specs, but the canyon looks amazing. love the colors

Ones a big time enduro/free ride bike, and ones a trail bike. Whichever one suits your riding style the most is gonna be the best. They’re both incredible bikes for their respective purpose.

Propain is a nicer and cooler bike. Canyon will almost certainly be more bang for the buck. Pick your poison. Both bikes will ride great.

  17. Get a commencal or even a new zink bike. If u want carbon I’d go w Santa Cruz or specialized. Avoid canyon, YT, Ari and orbea

  18. I own a Propain Tyee for 3 years now and absolute love it! But I‘d reccommend the mullet version tbh. Wish they had it when I configured mine.
They have discount codes all the time. Maybe check out Remy Metailler, he posts them every once in a while
